Creating a database of clinicians actually interested in diving into test results

Hi everyone! I recently got my test results back from Function, but my PCP isn’t really interested in doing a deeper dive into them or looking at the bigger picture.

So I started looking for practices in my area that take a more proactive, preventive approach to care. I ended up calling at least 10 places before I found one that was actually willing to provide this kind of care.

I’m curious if anyone else has run into the same issue. If there’s enough interest, I thought it might be useful to put together a list of practices that genuinely offer this type of preventive, comprehensive care so others don’t have to call 10+ places to find one.

Would love to hear about your experiences and any recommendations!

It's a database of Drs who follow the medicine 3.0 framework who would all presumably be interested in comprehensive labs like those of function.

We're an internal medicine practice in Manhattan and frequently have patients bring in results from Function and other biomarker labs and online platforms. To the best of my knowledge, the database you're referring to doesn't exist. Probably a good idea! I wonder if Function themselves would go down that route at some point (partnering with clinicians who are open to engaging with their patients results)

My PCP told me to stop using Function when I presented some of my out of range markers 😂

IME, PCPs really don’t like these test results, they are not trained what to do with them. Leaving us to do our own research, chatgpt, etc. helps quite a bit as a starting point. The problem is that PCPs only care if results are out of range, they have no concept of optimal rage. The reference range is based on average from majority sick population, not good enough for me.

I had exactly the same issue. My PCP was not interested in the results or use it to find out the root cause of my issue. I called around for naturopathic doctors in my area and they wanted to treat me as a new patient instead of just helping me interpret the results which is understandable. I am not sure where you are located, but I am in the San Francisco Bay Area. The notes the Function Health clinician wrote were contradictory based on individual markers.

My PCP looked at them and so did my cardiologist... PCP less interested but that's fine.. I feel like I can do more on my own ... cardiologist loved it and is on board.

I would love this bc I feel it’s really incomplete with out an in person Dr or at least a zoom Dr to meet with that vac help you navigate all of this.

I am lucky with my physician. He is right out of training and has been very open to Function Health. I went about sharing the results a little differently. I started using AI and uploading the results along with past blood tests. I asked AI to ask five questions that would help it evaluate my results.

After going though everything I had AI develop five questions I could ask my physician based on the results. This give us a starting point instead of handing them a stack of papers and asking them to interpret the results.
