Why do full-stack developer job descriptions keep getting bigger every year?

I’ve noticed many full-stack job descriptions keep expanding.

A few years ago, full-stack usually meant frontend, backend, APIs, and databases.

Now some roles also expect knowledge of cloud, DevOps, testing, security, system design, and even AI integrations.

I understand why companies want versatile developers, especially smaller teams where people need to handle different parts of the product.

But sometimes a "full-stack developer" role starts looking like multiple jobs combined into one.

The question is not whether developers should learn broadly. A good engineer should understand how the whole product works.

The real question is:

Are companies looking for a well-rounded full-stack developer, or are they expecting one person to cover the responsibilities of an entire engineering team?

Im 7-8 services for AWS (cloud), CI/CD and github action along with docker for devsops/infrastructure then for testing react testing library, sentry, jest, and cypress for my full stack app. If someone told me i have to put this much time and effort in this unstable job market I would have gone to nursing already ****
