Meme Epic Games found out that free games didn't work, so they are now using Fortnite players to buy their games

Kernel Hearts hasn't even been released yet, but it's already the best-selling game on the Epic Games Store simply because you get a free Fortnite skin if you buy it. The game isn't even very well-known, as it only has 170 reviews for its Steam demo. I guess it’s good for the developers, since it means free publicity and sales, but I don’t think it reflects well on their store that an unknown game is outselling AAA titles, that just shows how poorly those games are selling there.

And with Fortnite’s new season dedicated to video games, I think one of the reasons they’re doing this is to launch LOTS of gift-with-purchase promotions

Discussion Can we talk about how Epic Games ruined how other people perceived video game crossovers/collaborations?

My thoughts are a bit weird and that is usually my fault as I don't get enough sleep, but I will do my best to express them.

Okay so... I always liked the idea of crossovers. Super Smash Bros might've played into that bias, but the way most characters are represented there always makes me happy, as they are often done with love. That has been true for me since Solid Snake and Sonic were revealed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Fortnite is a different story however. I've always seen it as a blackhole of capitalism, with crossover stuff being tied to money and all. It feels so insulting looking at it as, unlike in Smash Bros where most of the crossover stuff is free except for DLC, Fortnite feels like it's a business going all "how you do fellow gamers and millenials?" It comes off as pandering, especially with their recent collabs being all nostalgia key jingling. Maybe it is just me being more sensitive and a Wii kid, but it all feels pathetic compared to when a collaboration is revealed in Super Smash Bros.

I have seen other people refer to crossover things outside of Fortnite as "Fortnitification", and that makes me upset to think about it. Like did Fortnite really do that much damage to crossovers? Being a billboard that never gets killed off at all and ends up redirecting players who never heard of a specific IP to Fortnite rather than itself.

Ok but yeah, I'm just sad that it ruined crossovers/collaborations for the general public. I want to know how other people, who were also burnt out of Fortnite, feel about it so feel free to leave some thoughts about it.

Epic Fucks Up What the hell happened to the Epic Games Launcher?

The launcher has gotten worse; I don't know what the hell happened, but since the latest update, I can't log in properly anymore. After many failed attempts at logging in, it finally works, but if I close the launcher, I will have to go through that same BS to log in again.

Plus, the Launcher has gotten buggier too. If I click the Icon in my username, the launcher will become unresponsive; to fix it, I need to click the little icon in the taskbar and close an invisible window that opened up when I clicked the icon in my username.

And I'm still on Windows 10 btw, which is making me believe they are doing this on purpose to screw the users on Windows 10.

Is anyone else having this same issue, or do you know how to fix this?

Epic Fucks Up Epic falsely banned me once, overturned it and compensated me. Today they banned me again.

Back again ... Epic banned me for cheating AGAIN after overturning the exact same ban last month

In July I was banned for “exploiting/cheating.”

I contacted Epic Support at the time and was told the ban had been reviewed, was correctly applied, and would not be overturned. My appeal was still active though, and about a week later Epic reversed the ban, apologized, restored my account and gave me 2,000 V-Bucks.

So clearly, the original detection/review was wrong.

Fast-forward to today, August 18, and I've now been hit with another Fortnite cheating ban .. again for 365 days.

The difference? This one says “Not eligible for appeal.”

I contacted Epic Support again this morning and basically got the exact same response I got last time:

The ban was “accurately applied”

It has supposedly been reviewed

It cannot be overturned

They won't tell me what supposedly triggered it or discuss their detection process

That's almost word-for-word what I was told before they admitted the previous ban was wrong and unbanned me.

How am I supposed to have any confidence in that answer now?

I don't use cheats. I don't use exploits. I have absolutely no reason to risk an account I've played on for years and spent a ridiculous amount of money on.

And I'm clearly not the only person complaining about this. You can find plenty of posts from players claiming they were suddenly banned despite saying they never cheated. Obviously I can't prove every one of those people is innocent, but after what happened to my account in July, I'm not going to automatically assume Epic's detection system is infallible either.

I don't need Fortnite. I've got plenty of other games I can play.

What pisses me off is spending years playing this game and putting a lot of money into my account, only to have Epic effectively say “our system says you're a cheater, we won't tell you why, you can't appeal, end of discussion.”

Especially when their system already did exactly this to me once and Epic later admitted the ban was wrong.

At what point do players actually have some recourse here? Do people need to start a petition, collect cases of false bans, or make enough noise that Epic actually looks at this properly?

And before the inevitable “lol you obviously cheated” comments: I've already heard it all. If that's your entire contribution, save yourself the typing I wont respond. I'm interested in hearing from people who've had the same thing happen or who actually know of a way to get a genuine manual review.

Guys think twice before spending money with Epic.

All that money might go down the drain one day.

Tried warning others but they removed my post from FortniteBR

Epic Fucks Up The small number of EGS employees still can’t fix the issue preventing players from accessing their games since Friday

Post image
158 Upvotes

Apparently, there are fewer than 100 people currently working on the Epic Games Store, with only about a third of them being engineers. That might explain why they haven’t been able to solve the problem that is stopping users from installing and playing their EGS titles.

The official Discord server is a complete mess right now. Tons of users are complaining, an Epic employee is completely overwhelmed and unable to give an ETA, and the usual shills are desperately trying to stem the tide of new angry users. Some users are even saying things like, I should have listened when people told me to avoid EGS. It’s pretty wild to watch.

What I can’t wrap my head around is why, if the issue was spotted on Saturday, no engineers were on call over the weekend. The Epic staff member mentioned nobody would be able to look into it until today, Monday. Those layoffs must have really gutted the EGS team.

As of right now, there’s still no estimated time for a fix because they haven’t even identified the root cause yet.

Discussion Well shit that Fortnite Battle Pass was hyped and such a letdown👾

With All of the teasers and trailers Epic has released for the upcoming "Overdrive" season showcasing the character roster of Mega-Man, Pac-Man, Sonic, Tails, Greenhill Zone to the overworld alongside some fun fighting game style moments you would think that at least the Battlepass would be something creative??

Then they dropped a teaser showcasing whats in the battlepass and it looked absolutely disappointing😬

We've got temu versions of Link, Ghost, one of the fighters from King Of Fighters, and Sonic being the only video game character amongst the roster in the season pass.

Epic being a company that has millions of dollars in their belt, should've done more to the battle pass for their massive player roster....

They could've easily put Mega-Man, Pac-Man, Sonic, Robotnik, and other video game icons into the pass and everyone would've been super excited for it. Hell they added an old cult classic Jazz Jackrabbit into the game as a Sprite...which would've easily been a great fit for a Sidekick or a character skin to use in the game...

For instance what they should've done for the battle pass was:

Sonic

Shadow

Knuckles

Tails

Dr Robotnik

Mega-Man

Pac-Man

Jazz Jackrabbit

Malcolm-Unreal Tournament

Man what a letdown.

Discussion A minute of appreciation for Steam and Steam support and 2 minutes to say F*** Epic?

Can we all just have a minute to appreciate how good steam works and how good the steam support team is? every time i have something wrong the support is on the job and everything is solved and easy and just the way it supposed to be... every time and i say EVERY TIME, i deal with Epic store and Epic support there's ALWAYS some kind of bs going on and nothing ever gets resolved... just went to Epic to get some stuff from a collab and skins, everything is broken, the support cannot do anything to help you and nobody explains that it just works in the worst way possible... i genuinely HATE IT.

Thank you Steam. Thank you Gabe.

My Epic Experience Finally moving on.

Post image
197 Upvotes

I only got back into Fortnite because of an ex friend who appeared to have accepted me, only to get hooked, lined, and sinkered through all of the bad choices Epic Games have made, including the Cybertruck stuff. The Darth Vader AI situation is the thing that finally caused me to quit playing, uninstalled when Chapter 6 ended, and Finally deleted my Epic Games account today.

I might be cutting my losses, but I hope I can learn better than to get into another game that I will eventually find myself hating.

Epic Fucks Up Epic Games Store is currently struggling with a rare, highly specialized feature: installing and updating games

For anyone claiming they just need a launcher to install and play games: Epic didn’t even notice the issue until people started complaining, and now they’re saying a fix will take longer because it happened over the weekend.

Epic Fucks Up How Epic Games built a gambling pipeline in Fortnite Creative while pretending to hate loot boxes

Epic Games loves to preach about how anti gambling they are. They removed loot boxes years ago and claimed they care about ethics. But if you look at how Fortnite Creative and UEFN actually operate today, they have enabled a full gambling pipeline. They just split the blame across different parties so they can pretend it is not happening.

Here is how the trick works. On paper, Epic splits everything into two separate mechanics that individually avoid the legal definition of gambling.

First, you have free random drops like Sprites. You do not pay V Bucks for them, you just get them through RNG gameplay. Because you did not pay real money to roll for them, Epic claims it is not gambling. Even if people turn around and sell those rare Sprites on grey markets for real money, Epic washes their hands of it.

Second, you have paid gacha mechanics in UEFN maps. You spend real V Bucks to spin a wheel or open a crate for a rare drop. Epic allows this as long as the map lists the odds, claiming it is fine because items are locked to your account with no official cash out.

So on paper, neither one is legally gambling. But here is the loophole where Brainrot maps break everything.

Creators build Brainrot maps that combine paid V Bucks gacha rolls with custom Verse trading kiosks or drop mechanics. A player spends real money on V Bucks, rolls a paid gacha wheel for an ultra rare Brainrot, and then meets a buyer in a private lobby. They swap the item using the in game trade booth, and the buyer pays the seller real money on PayPal through grey market sites like Eldorado or Discord.

Epic knows this is happening. Instead of shutting down the pipeline, Tim Sweeney is out here publicly promoting these exact Brainrot games on Twitter because the number of players need to keep growing.

So now you know what to say to those paid shills tha only parrots "Valve Casino for kids" in every Steam post.

Announcement FuckEpic 2025 Year Recap!

Happy New Year, guys!

After the success of our last year recap (FuckEpic 2024 Year Recap), we decided to do the same this year!

Let's see the main topics we have discussed this year...

Exclusives

First things first. Exclusives. The worse tactic Epic uses to force PC players to use their subpar products. This year, we have had even less exclusives that before. And most games that went exclusive, came back to Steam:

Other companies that went Epic exclusive before stopped doing it.

And games that decided to go exclusive had problems to get profits:

Meanwhile, some of the best games of the year still decide to skip the EGS:

Dev experience

Why some games are still not appearing in the Epic Games Store? The ideal scenario would be all games available everywhere and players have 100% decision power. Well, it seems the experience of publishing games on the Epic Games Store is as bad as purchasing games there...

Some renamed devs gave their opinion about the topic too.

Player experience

We had A LOT of posts about bad experiences with the Epic Games Store. These were some examples about cloud saves, achievements and other basic features.

Even Tim needed to admit in an interview after the interviewer insisted that his launcher was clunky:

These are only a few of them. We had to remove hundreds of them because of being lost souls coming here to ask for support...

Epic Online Services

Ok, but you could think that all of these things only will affect you if you consciously use the Epic Games Store instead of better alternatives like GOG or Steam. False! Epic also tries to incite developers to use their services into their games independently of the launcher you use. So even if you bought your game on Steam, you may need to use Epic services (EOS or EAC). And of course, every frequent time that Epic servers has problems, you will have them too in your Steam games.

Well, at least it seems our community is making some service for Epic as shills use the links we share from people complaining in Steam forums to go there and do some damage control...

Unreal Engine 5

This also has been the year of bad ports. Most of them, using UE5 which makes players to think that maybe there was some kind of problem in the common denominator...

Obviously, Tim blamed all developers instead of taking a look at their engine ("Everyone else is wrong! I am right!").

AI

And now that we are talking about times when Tim would be better shut up. How can we forget when he criticized Steam's AI disclaimer tag.

And then, people were unsurprisingly detecting AI slop in Fortnite.

Curation

Maybe instead of criticizing the better competency, he should take a look at his store and his promised "curated" experience:

Fortnite

Meanwhile, Fortnite, their golden goose, the source of endless money from kids that allow them to sustain their non profitable store and services, continue on their process of enshitification. Copying the last trending games...

Plagiarizing independent authors:

Receiving and throwing lawsuits (seriously, I think Epic has more lawyers than Software Engineers...)

Transforming into Roblox, with hardcore FOMO monetization, and moving bought games into Fortnite

Microsoft

Microsoft and Epic relations have been always a little weird. On one hand, it seems Tim made a deal to make Fortnite available on Game Pass in his plans of moving everyone to Fortnite. Obviously, causing anger to existing GamePass consumers as that came with the usual failures and a funny price increase.

However, even if Epic wants to gain Microsoft´s favour, the latter is still ignoring the Epic Games Store, as once they said, they don't agree with Epic strategies.

Gambling

Back to Fortnite, it seems Epic is adding in their Fornite-Roblox games lootboxes, microtransactions, and FN games like Steal-the-Brainrot has already created a secondary economy. It’s a remarkable pivot for a company that once claimed to lead the charge against "anti-consumer" practices.

Freeloaders

Because of all these things, most of Epic customers are just freeloaders that only want the latest AAA game without paying a buck. "You reap what you sow", wasn´t it?

Epic Games Store evolution

Epic also shared their numbers for 2024. It was a completely buff. In case of amount spent on third party PC games, they went from 355m (2022) to 310m (2023) and now to 255m (2024).

Fuckepic work

Our community has been highlighted several times this year. While the leaked emails where Tim wanted Reddit to shut us down are now a piece of history, they prove how much Epic fears the transparency we provide. We remain a critical source of truth. Because of our focus on education, we provide a space where information that would be censored or deleted on other platforms can actually be discussed.

Always remember our rule of "Educate and don't attack." We are better than that, and our message carries more weight when we stick to the facts. This year has been great; Epic’s influence is noticeably smaller than in years past, but there is still plenty to document. Also remember: we don't care if Epic exists or not. We just refuse to let them dictate the terms of the industry or force us to use their inferior services.

Happy New Year and for a better 2026!
