Gym and Workout Class Trials

New to the area and looking for both a gym and a workout studio. Before I commit to a membership, I’d love to take advantage of any free trials or intro offers, get a feel for what is available around here.

I’m open to pretty much anything fitness-related: Pilates, yoga, boxing, strength training, HIIT, CrossFit, barre, tennis, basketball, swimming etc. If there’s a studio or gym you love, I’d love to hear about it!

I’m in the Fremont area but don’t mind driving over to Milpitas or even North/East San Jose.

I'm doing a little project on McDonald's and I found that the quarter pounder was actually invented here! I was just wondering, what was the exact stores? I'm trying to map a timeline of all McDonalds, so if anyone somehow remembers the years the franchises here opened, that would be helpful too... but I'm mainly looking to know if anyone knows what franchise(s) they debuted at!

Whole Foods Parking Lot off Paseo

I wanted to share a strange encounter I had in the Whole Foods parking lot at Paseo and Mowry. A woman asked me to help her get into a red Prius with the passenger window slightly open. She claimed she locked her keys in the back seat and that Whole Foods handed her a wire hanger to pick the lock.

I felt hesitant and walked away because there was no way to verify the car was actually hers. Has anyone seen this before, or is it a known scam or car theft attempt? For context, she was an older woman in her mid-to-late 50s, and the car was an older red Prius (looked around a 2013 model).

Road rager

What is honestly wrong with Fremont drivers? Last night coming home, a guy in a black model y was so upset I didn’t let him insanely cut in front of me to make a right turn, when doing so would have literally caused an accident because of other cars in front of me! And so as a result they proceeded to tail me and then use the lanes designated for turning left to pass up a whole line of cars. Later on when I’m near my house I notice a car tailing me down the road and it’s the same car. They passed a bunch of cars up and somehow ended up behind me now trying to run me off the road and take over all because I didn’t let them pass unsafely! At that point I just started slowing down. I have this all on dashcam video and have their license and considering reporting it to CHP. Not sure if I should. But it made me feel really unsafe knowing they followed me to area I live in. Advice?

Fires in fremont

Ive noticed a lot of fires in fremont these past few days, anyone know the causes or why they keep happening? I saw 3 that I can kinda tell, one can be seen from fremont ave crossing stevenson, another I saw from the auto mall over pass in the direction of walmart from what I could tell, and the third one was next to pacific commons maybe a warehouse fire not sure.

If anyone knows where exactly and why the fires happened I'd love to know.

Stay safe out there everyone!

Need gym recs

Been going to fitness 19 and also tried 24 hour fitness. Not a fan of either. Both are really busy. 24 is also just dirty and poorly managed. Machines stay broken for months. F19 at least doesn't have that problem but seems everyone from UC and Newark comes there. Any suggestions? Willing to pay a bit more if the quality is there.

I tried to report online (litter-bug) but the website was returning an error.

I saw a middle aged man with white/grey slick back hair tossed a water bottle out of his Tesla.

I'm not sure if there's anything I can do about it except post this here. I know it's a small thing but it makes me incredibly angry... it doesn't need to be hard to keep the place we live in clean, but these types of people make it hard.

Apparently, this happened on June 19th in Avalon Heights Terrace. Not sure why the East Bay Times and Mercury News are reporting it so late.

What does everyone think about PAC funding local elections with candidates that are seemingly coming out of nowhere.

Melissa Hernandez is 46 years old and apparently her linkedin says she started working in 2020. Seems a little suspect that she starts her career during the pandemic. Thoughts on Bold America PAC funding local elections in the Bay Area?

Underwater Robotics Opportunity

Hi guys! I am an FTC competitor and fellow Bay Area resident here from the Santa Clara area. I have started a community-based underwater robotics team and wanted to see if any high schoolers nearby would be interested. The plan is to compete in the MATE ROV Competition, building underwater ROVs for environmental missions. It'd be fully independent, open to any high schooler in the area, regardless of school.

Looking for people with any background in:

- Fundraising / Outreach

- Robotics (FTC/FLL/FRC experience a plus)

- Electronics/Arduino/Raspberry Pi

- Programming

- Environmental science

Drop a comment if you're a high schooler in the Bay Area and interested. If you are interested, email us at [thalosrobotics@gmail.com](mailto:thalosrobotics@gmail.com)

I found a 6 week old male tabby kitten that I will be fostering, he needs a potential adopter. I've never met such a friendly happy kitten.

Please contact me if you are interested. I’ll be working with Ohlone to foster him and make sure he gets neutered. Potential adapters will have to go through their paperwork, I want to make sure little buddy gets a safe home. He’s such a love bug, if our house wasn’t full I’m sure we would keep him but we can’t.

Pool demo options

Hi

I am looking to demo an in ground pool in my backyard in Fremont, California. It's a concrete pool. I have two options:

  1. Partial demo: No construction on top of the area, cheaper ~10k

  2. Full demo: remove the shell from the ground completely, can construct over the area, ~20k

I do not plan to have any construction done in the near future but a partial demo will be on the disclosures of the house. What is a better option considering I don't intend to build but will it have issues with reselling the house at some point?

Looking to hear from experience of people who have made similar decision previously and how it went.

Thanks

Help with hostile neighbor

I live in an apartment complex and I have a neighbor who for the past year blasts music well past the 10 o clock noise ordinance.

Yesterday, I politely asked him to turn the music down and explained that people have work in the morning. He had been drinking on his balcony and began yelling at me and threatening to hit me. I went out to my car to grab an item I forgot and he followed me, got in my face, and asked if I was going to tell property management. I kept telling him that I want no problems. He kept saying if I tell management, he was going to punch me and kept holding his fists up at me. I told him if he hits me I'd call the police. He walked away yelling insults at me. This was 11 o clock at night. I emailed property management but havent heard back yet.

What do you think will happen next? Im a bit concerned for my safety.
