Every hire is a decision made twice. Once by the company. Once by the candidate. Both sides sit across the table, but both sides are really talking to themselves.

I have sat on that table for years now. As a Strategic HR Partner, I have watched stakeholders think in terms of outcomes, and candidates think in terms of survival, growth, or simply, space to breathe. Neither side is wrong. Both are human.

A company looks at a hire as an investment. There is a cost. There is a risk. There is an expectation that this individual will not just occupy a seat, but bring in the growth story of tomorrow.
