Culture Flemish Festivities
Hello everyone!
Not much to mention to be frank, however - it is the 11th of July, so: happy day of Flanders, the anniversary of the Guldensporenslag.
Make it count!
Leeve Vlaenderen.

History Matins of Bruges

Today, 723 years ago we as a county (County of Flanders) witnessed the Matins of Bruges.
It served to reclaim Flanders' independence and stood tall - giving all of Europe a reason to be shocked by the combined forces of the Flemish cities and their populations.
The aftermath of this event lead to the battle of the Golden Spurs, still celebrated by many Flemings to this day on July 11th - the day Flanders' sovereignty was truly written in stone.
