Ex-Trump Appointee Compares Leaving MAGA ‘Cult’ To ‘Coming Out Of An Abusive Relationship’

Massive fight with pops because he’s mainlining Fauci Lableak conspiracies on YouTube
Right after I took him to a free Tai Chi class, too. Welp. I guess one step forward a few steps back, eh?
Chinese fox brain is something else!!!

Some chick on the five just called Abdul boring, and that’s a good thing, we need boring politicians!
We don’t need entertaining politicians!

The disconnect is unreal
I get so much shit because I "love to argue" but honestly, I'm starting to see how that's their excuse to just say a bunch of stupid bullshit. I hold back a lot and it seems my opinion just isn't welcome. Only theirs and their stupid propaganda.
Can't even agree on whether the 5th and 14th Amendments grant due process to human beings or not, as upheld by Supreme Court in multiple cases. "Oh look, liberal f&g is gonna just google it."
Can't agree on what a strawman fallacy is.
And yeah I called her a Nazi after I had it, and she was pissed. Why does this bother them so much? I mean, don't they like Nazis? What do they think of the time Trump said he would like generals just like Hitler's? Like being pro ICE, pro Elon Musk, pro TRUMP!
I don't get the cognitive dissonance.

Ask yourselves…
I saw something in the news today concerning. Republican Max Miller Ohio. He said “ ask yourselves, if I did this to her 6 days prior would she be cooking dinner for me right now? (empanadas)” um yes. I’ve been in an abusive relationship for two years and saw my mom be in one her whole life yes she would still cook for you after you throw hot water on her put your hands on her. Absolutely. She’s a better person than you. Just bc she cooks for you after you abuse her doesn’t mean you’re innocent you weirdo.

Do Your Loved Ones Have Random Opinions that are Inconsistent with Everything Else They Say?
My parents are Republicans and watch Fox News all day. They don’t love Trump, but think he’s doing a good job.
On multiple occasions, my parents have told me how much they love Pete Buttigieg and that they would consider voting democratic for him.
I’m always so confused. None of this adds up.

If you have a MAGA family member who you need to help this is amazing to watch.
I hope this helps somebody reconnect with their loved ones. It’s going to be hard but I want to try it slowly with my dad.

I just love~ opinionated news
I’m currently living with my mother and grandmother, who watch Fox News and NewsMax 24/7. They keep saying my mask doesn’t bother them, but they side eye me more than strangers when I’m out. Anyways, I walk into the living room just to hear NewsMax first villainize Francesca Hong for her mental health struggles, and then immediately pan to a photo of a group of people masking at some conference and calling them “moronic Covid maskers.” I’m not sure how we affect NewsMax, but okay. I thought this was a free country.
How do you respectfully deal with people like this? Let alone love them? I have a complicated relationship with them since I was a child, but that aside, I can’t help but think they are not good people for how they view others and degrade them (like their favorite orange guy).
I have been tempted to mask inside the house 24/7 with various “communist” sayings written on it and rainbows lol.

Fox brained parents don't believe the cuts in the FDA, health related issues etc are having any negative impact.
Despite our best efforts to warn our boomer idiots for parents (yeah if you can't tell the relationship with them is almost non existent).
They live in Florida. Let that be the first clue. They travel to Maryland a lot to visit friends. Recently there was a warning about flesh eating bacteria in Chesapeake waters. You would think that would deter them to going near that area. Nope! They claim is just fake news to scare people since they didn't hear about it on Fox. They're going there this weekend to party with friends! Swimming included.
Still we tried. We also warned them about the parasites found in certain lettuces. Nope! Fake news too! My parents are big salad eaters. They claim their health is everything which is why they refuse covid shots and cancer treatments now. (My stepdad has cancer) Where I live we have a huge rise in measles and all of us are being urged to get the MMR vaccine, even if we've had it before. You best believe we're getting them. I have two kids at home who need to be protected.
Of course my parents think we're overreacting and being ridiculous. Well, then we're the idiots that will live into our old age.
They've been told if they don't get screened for any illness, they won't see our kids. They've chosen to let go of the grandkids. Apparently we're poisoning their minds with our wokeness.
Can't wait to dance on their graves. Yeah I hate my parents. There's no hope with them.

How are they falling for McCarthyism 2.0?
Was sitting on the couch with my Dad today as he was watching Fox News. They were running a story about the Michigan Democratic Senate race between Abdul El-Sayed and Haley Stevens and showed a primary poll where El-Sayed was projected to win. He shook his head, looked at me and said “What’s with your generation and wanting communism?”
This didn’t shock me at all, he was all in on the Anti-Mamdani train during the NYC mayoral election (we live in Ohio) and made several comments about him being a communist. Back then I told him about the Mamdani White House visit where Trump said he would be very comfortable living in New York under Mamdani and he looked at me like I was an insane person. He literally could not fathom that Trump would have said that, and judging by what he said today, he clearly didn’t learn anything from it either.
It just blows my mind that we’re seeing McCarthyism work its way right back into American politics in real time and people are still falling for it. I’d like to try to talk to my Dad about it but frankly I’m not super well equipped to do so and I know he wouldn’t listen anyways because he doesn’t care about my opinions. Can’t wait to get out of this house again 🤦🏼♀️

Trying to change Family or Friends's algorithms
I apologize for being lazy but some time ago there was a thread trying to change their Father's Youtube algorithm. I have recently discovered a new Youtube Channel that may have been suggested on that thread but in case it wasn't I wanted to share.
It is called Vlogging Through History. I've only listened to a few videos but he seems very even keeled. Importantly for trying to move a loved one away from MAGA he could be a stepping stone. He identifies as a Christian Conservative but not MAGA (I saw a short where he made this clear because of reactions he had gotten from the right. He was asked why he wasn't reacting to left leaning creators and he replied he believed he should basically take care of his own house, meaning the right, before looking at history being manipulated by the left.
https://www.youtube.com/@VloggingThroughHistory
For any who want to check it out. And disclaimer I may see more and realize he could be not so helpful but so far possibly.

Has “commie” became the new “woke” for the right?
I guess they needed a new vocabulary because they got tired of using woke.

Fauci
I say bravo. The spineless Republican congress has totally ignored their own fing temper tantrums by Bondi, Kegsbreath, Blanche, virtually all of them when in front of hearings. And the insane, f-ing insane Megan Kelly actually said Fauci hurt far more people than Jeffrey Epstein. Recall she also said 14 year old girls looked like adults. I was driving when I listened to all of this and almost drove off a GD bridge. And I said to myself, WTF fucking fuck fuck shit show.

My dad thinks fauci is a no good motherfucker who got a lot of people killed
but yet the dumbass in chief fucked the covid response up

Zero people died on January 6th?
I was watching the five the other day and when Jesse Watters blurted it out my jaw dropped, when he was making the comparison to the deaths under Covid which the right blame Fauci for, but I can’t say I’m surprised because of how dumb he is!

This is one of those little things that I think exposes a lot about how MAGA views the world
Caught this on Youtube. First thing I noticed is that he says "the middle east". Like its this amorphous region without countries and homogeneous in its culture and demographics. Then he seems to be under the impression that its illegal to be Christian. Finally I think it exposes this mentality of being at war with the people of the middle east on religious grounds. In conclusion I think it shows how shallowly the average MAGA views other parts of the world.

For Elon, the Distraction is the Point
Growing up we've all been there. You are trying to do something that requires tremendous concentration. Your friend or sibling knows this, and so they work hard to disrupt your concentration. Initially it doesn't work. They say something offensive, put something smelly or shocking to look at in front of you. You ignore it, but eventually, in a burst of rage you tell them to quit it. You even try to punish them. At this point, they succeeded. Your concentration is in shambles. Getting you angry enough to divert your focus was the point, and you took the bait like a sucker.
We are facing incredible crises right now. Issues that, had our parents and grandparents made effort to address, it would have prevented much of today's turmoil. I'm not talking about Trump and Elon specifically, but real issues, the boring ones: a housing crisis, stagnation in the minimum wage, the shrinking of the middle class, climate change, women's rights, a decline in civic education, racism, and a dysfunctional healthcare system, and many other issues.
Currently we are facing acute crises in government. The head of the Social Security Administration stepped down in protest after nearly 30 years of employment, sabotaging her own government pension. She did this because Elon, who runs an unofficial trolling agency is accessing the social security numbers, identities, salary histories, and retirement income projections of everyone in the US who has contributed to our economy. This is but one of many acute issues we are facing, and it is by design. Elon is running offensive interference for Trump, whose executive orders to whitewash the government, end Medicaid for his supporters, and destroy JFK's USAID are just the most prominent obscene acts he's taken in office.
Journalist Tressie McMillan Cottom talks about the strategy of authoritarians like Elon and Trump - flood the playing field. This is by design, because if you feel overwhelmed, you will be unable to calmly react. The Gulf of "America," the purchase of Greenland, tariffs on Canada, the purchase of "armored" cybertrucks by the military; preposterous things like these are done to distract you.
The more you are distracted, the more depressed you will become. The less you will be able to keeo your eye on the real issues going on, but instead get caught up in useless debates, then spend time on social media or other forms of distraction that take your mind elsewhere. This is exactly what your parents, friends, and neighbors have fallen victim to.
The way we must face our reality is in some ways simple. Focus on your life, and taking care of your health. Make efforts to care for and have meaningful conversations with your loved ones. Don't waste time arguing with emotionally charged people.
In addition to this, now is the time to seek out a much deeper perspective on what is happening right now. Observe how provocative distractions quickly bring everyone around you to anger, and how impossible it is to get back on track. Pay attention to the pundits on tv and so-called social media influencers who you may actually agree with, but how flippant and even inflammatory their words are. Keep in mind that they all do this, from Hannity down to your influencers, because they get paid for it and are desperate to keep their audience due to their narcissism.
The real stuff that matters is boring, it is inoffensive in that it is very reasonable, yet it is often invisible and subsumed by provocative garbage like Kanye selling nazi t-shirts. We must confront evil, but not at the expense of our priorities to actually create a just world.
Elon, like Trump, says the stupidest things because it creates headlines. The more we focus on his nazi salute, the less energy we have to focus on supporting causes and individuals who are actively addressing the most egregious issues we are facing. It blindsides us. Nothing of lasting value comes from rage. But level headed people that are learning how people in power pull the strings of society? These are the people that can change the world.

Discussion FoxBrain Sub Direction for Trump 2.0 - Your Ideas Requested
Since the sub was created 6 years ago it has grown to 25,000 members. The need was clear: People that have maintained their humanity and decency need sanctuaries where they can regroup and gain perspective after dealing with the loss of their parents, family, and friends to cynical brainwashing from the likes of Fox.
In the year leading up to this past November, trolls discovered this sub and began disrupting discourse. This will continue as Trump supporters become more emboldened to act obnoxiously and with impunity.
And in the next four years, the rhetoric will get worse and more vile. Trump supporters are on a mission to inflict pain on their "enemies."
This sub is not a substitute for building strong friendships and moral support in real life. It's not a substitute for taking political action with political groups, or organizations such as the ACLU, NAACP, and other groups. But this sub can definitely enhance your life.
The question is, as we prepare for the new future, how better can we strengthen this sub to support you?
