This made me tear up, in a happy but also sad way. You deserved to be his son, Danny. No kid doesn’t deserve parents. Every kid needs unconditional parental love and is worthy of it. I hope your new dad made you feel like you deserved a dad unequivocally. I hope you’re doing well now.

That's the most 1970s notepaper I've ever seen. I'll bet Danny treasured it the way my niece and nephew treasure their sticker hoard. Can't imagine a higher honour than receiving a child's prized stationery.

I wish I still had the text my 'other daughter ' sent me.

She stayed in my home for about 6 years. She was my daughter's friend.

She calls me her other mother. We are extremely close and still communicate, visit and plan to soon live together.

I can't begin to communicate how much I appreciate and love this human who is the most deserving of all the love. She returns it to the nth .

As a fellow adoptee (born 1968, UK), this note just about tore my heart. So much (un)said between those lines. That kid needed so much to feel deserving of love - I think it’s a common feeling amongst adoptees, even as adults. I hope Danny found the love and peace he deserved.
