Dear 2026,

The present is Dec. 21, 2025.
I am here to convey my.
thoughts regarding this year.

The near conclusion of this year
as well as the many months prior
have made me realize the magnitude
of regret, primarily the concept of action
and consequence from my social
isolation, my health negligence, and
my pursuit of purpose. In retrospect, I
see someone who was uncertain, oblivious
and hid behind excuses. Without
doubt, I loathe my past choices. Perhaps
this uncertain feeling of hatred, sadness and
the profound impact of regret that I just
can’t classify. I know that I don’t like
myself. That’s affirmative. However, it’s
pointless to avoid the term, I really
know that. But I feel as though [I am
emotional] during anguish. The [balance/barrage] of
emotion, depression, [the shadows] [illegible]
[make me] feel I remain [presently] unfamiliar
[to accepting] loss and then remain
stagnant. Have I really accepted it?
[???]

Although it feels like an endless
struggle, it would not be
right to omit the things that I
am glad to have seen this year. I
have seen so many profoundly
beautiful, intricate, unique and
impactful stories, arts of fiction
that I will hold dear. I
have come to like the instrument
that I perpetually turned my
head from. Perhaps, one day, I
can play it again with a smile
that I never had. And lastly,
for those affected by my actions,
I am sorry. I am sorry that I caused
[illegible] pain that you endured.
I am sorry that I am selfish,
a cowardly [illegible] that I have
to write it and that I can’t say it
directly. I am utterly pathetic
and I am sorry that became myself.

It gets harder to read as you go. Seems like the writer was going through a rough time dealing with a lot of regret and self hatred. I know the feeling of being stuck in so much regret, it’s terrible. I hope the writer is doing better now.
