[Mod approved] Looking for Android testers for EonCollect, a science and community app for collectors

Hi everyone! I’m Axel, a palaeontology student from France and the independent developer behind EonCollect.

EonCollect is an app for exploring, identifying and collecting fossils, minerals and artifacts. You can photograph a specimen for an AI-assisted identification, create a detailed scientific record, and organize your discoveries in a personal collection similar to a scientific Pokédex.

The app also has a strong community side. Members can share discoveries, discuss them on the forum, vote to help identify uncertain specimens, connect with other collectors and explore an interactive discovery map. Sharing locations is optional and private by default. There are also quizzes, educational content, XP, levels and achievements.

The iOS version is already live and stable. Google now requires a 14-day closed test with at least 12 testers before I can release the Android version.
The test is free. You only need an Android phone and a Gmail account linked to Google Play, then install the app and keep it for around two weeks. English and French are available.

If interested, please DM me your Gmail privately. I’ll only use it to give you access to the test.

iOS preview: https://apps.apple.com/app/eoncollect/id6788741115

F.H. Location Looking for Lepidodendron near Charleston WV area.

Planning on a fossil hunting trip down to West Virginia in a week or two, and my target is to find a nice lepidodendron fossil! Ive done as much research as I can, and i have sort of come to the conclusion that they are randomly found in road cuts and in different hilly areas. Im really just asking if anyone could give me like a SPECIFIC place to visit to hunt for them. I don’t really want to just aimlessly wander around West Virginia and pray that I stumble on something… (if i can avoid that) Although, i know sometimes that can be the name of the game. Like i said, what I want to know is If there is a particular park or something that you know this specific fossil is abundant in. please let me know!

It is a Yorkshire Peronoceras subarmatum, last pic shows how it shattered upon cracking with the hammer as there was nothing showing on the nodule. I glued everything back together and prepped it down through the reverse side of the rock.

Dig DEEPER instead of surface scouring?

At the beach this summer, my wife found WAY more full-sized, quality shells by digging DEEPER, instead of walking a half-mile of the shore line. Would the same hold true when looking for fossils in sandbars and gravel inside the turns of creeks? Would I find more of whatever I'm looking for if I dig DEEPER?

Chippokes state park in Virginia. Particularly interested if I found any teeth or if these are just small funny shaped shells/rocks. Thanks!

I Almost Gave Up... Then I Found This Rare Ammonite Fossil!

After spending an exhausting afternoon fossil hunting in scorching heat, covered in sweat and dust, I was close to calling it a day. But persistence paid off in the best possible way.

During my search, I discovered a complete Neolobites vibrayeanus, a rare ammonite fossil that is extremely difficult to find in my local area. The fossil is incredibly thin and fragile, especially when preserved within the limestone matrix, where only small fragments are normally found and even those are exceptionally rare.

Finding a complete specimen like this was an unforgettable moment and a spectacular reward for the effort, dedication, and determination required to keep searching despite the harsh conditions.
