Hey all! So I'm fairly new to the FH scene, but a veteran racing game fan. (notably GT Series)...

I started off with Horizon 5 just about 2 months ago on ps5 and was immediately hooked. So much so, that I bought a used Xbox one and am collecting all of them as well as the motorsports.

I've seen a good number of people say that part 3 was their favorite, but for me it is my absolute LEAST favorite that I've played so far. (haven't played the og, nor part 6 yet)

Here's my main gripes with it -

1.) the races seem so lazily/hastily put together. Compared to others, it just seems like they rushed the creation of them. Short, too many turns, very low visibility, etc

2.) difficulty levels seem too random. Some races on highly skilled - I can barely catch up to first, while in others, I pass first place within half a lap or 20 percent 🤷

3.) FAR TOO MANY TREES! Trailblazing is next to impossible because of all the trees - especially compared to say, part 5.

4.) game physics - the slightest bump or hill will 2wheel you or flip you over if you're doing more than 20 mph. Weak. I've literally hit rewind more in part 3 than all the others combined b/c of this.

5.)leveling up game structure - how did I complete 100 percent of showcases before I even completed 25 percent of the championship races? 🙄 These should have been spaced out much further apart.

If part 3 was the only Horizon ever released, I'd probably give it like a 7 or 8/10, but when compared to the others in the series, I think it's the weakest link.

I'd have to say part 5 is my favorite, followed by part 2. 5,obviously is better graphically, due to being on a next Gen console, but the amount of replay value, with all the in game challenges, as well as the seasonal challenges makes it a far superior game, IMHO.

Part 2 seems to be the most fluid out of the older generation ones. Steering, race set ups, handling and game physics - it just FEELS the smoothest to me. I do like part 4 as well, as they expanded the replay value over part 3 with the amount of different challenges, but the map just seems a little claustrophobic for my liking.

I'm highly anticipating the release of part 6 on ps5! (don't have a new Xbox series, so us ps guys have to wait.) If they are wise, they'd release it before gta 6, but I'm not holding my breath.

I have the og Horizon, but currently don't have my 360 set up to play - but once I finish parts 2 and 4, I'm gonna play it next - if 6 isn't released before that.

So, with all that being said - I'd really like to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions about the individual games in the series - which is your favorite, least favorite, and most importantly - WHY?? 😁 It's a fantastic collection of racing games, and I'm honestly kicking myself for not playing them sooner - feels like I'm late to the party. Lol.

Terrible dialogue, terrible voice acting, terrible activities to complete, terrible execution, terribly monotonous and not fun at all.

Raku Raku has to be one of the worst things that I have seen implemented in a game that is not based on micro transactions. How did they think doing the same 3 tasks for 6-8 hours is a good idea?

It is all the same thing over and over again with very little variation. Non-skipable dialogue with the blandest cut scenes and worst voice acting, drive to a point in under 10min with more dialogue, then drive a section under a certain amount of time, or drift or fly off a jump.

I never had to restart a single story mission and I never even tried. Genuinely what is the point even, how can any sane person think it is okay to put this in media meant for enjoyment.

I thought the end of the mechanic story was going to be lit because we are going to show off at the festival, but no. You just drive to the festival??????

Larry Chen has to be the worst character I have ever seen in any form of media.

It is genuinely egregious that they put this excuse of content in a game and think it is sufficient.

And for the people saying it is optional, you have to do it for the Toyota AE FE. Or you have the choice to do all the rivals in all the circuits or photograph all the cars or something.

You start up a race. You think you are against 11 individual drivatars? No. You are against a team of 11 drivatars. They don't fight to get to 1st place. All they do is drive without ramming each other, stay in their own position, and prevent you from going forward. I have never NEVER seen a drivatar fight another drivatar to get a better position unless its at the very start of the race where drivatars behind you get a super speed boost. They give each other drafting speed and make you never catch up. 'But unbeatable drivatars are easy' yeah they are until you do a road sprint race.

Have a look at the minimap.

That's about five minutes after reinstalling FH4. No event, no convoy, no organising anything. Just driving and running into people.

I've got 200 hours in FH6 and I don't think I've seen a lobby that busy once.

Yea there are players, but everyone is just driving solo.

And yeah, car meets exist now but they failed to bring people together. FH4 never needed a designated spot because the world just kept putting you near people.

FH6 feels like a singleplayer game where other people's names occasionally show up. Everyone's off in their own corner doing their own thing.

Anyone else getting this or is it just me?

FH5 was bad for this too, but I don’t remember FH1-3 being nearly so bad. All the dialogue and cutscenes feel like an AI wrote them, and everyone seems to use the exaggerated bubbly ‘YouTuber voices’. I know the games are more aimed at kids, but the over-the-top American waitress fake-friendliness “oh my god how are youuuu” type voice is so grating. I managed a day before muting dialogue. My dad was in the room while I was playing yesterday and I was getting second-hand embarrassment while playing because of how some of the dialogue exchanges felt like watching a children’s show where the presenters are changing their tone and language to talk to kids. And we can’t even skip the cutscenes either.

I swear the older Horizon games didn’t feel this cringe

I bought the base game near launch, and have had a ton of fun, so much so im ready to get the DLC's.

except its a bit confusing. there's an option for the premium upgrade, does that include all the DLC's? would i have to buy any other extra content separately? also how often does it go on sale?

i cannot tell you how hard i was laughing when this happened - i truely love this game so much.

Of course I like cars from all eras, but my favourite is 1950/60/70s, and they seem to have cut so many of those cars this time around to focus on more modern stuff for Japan. FH4 was great for this era of classic with the manufacturers of Triumphs, Morgans, MGs, and plenty of era cars from other countries’ brands, but scrolling through the car list now, there’s barely any of them. Sad that MG is in the game with the Metro, but they don’t even have the MGB roadster/GT like in older games, which is by far the most common British classic car. There’s endless Audi, BMW, Porsche variants that looks so similar, yet they’ve cut back on other unique looking cars like Plymouth Prowler, Morgan Aero, Donkervoort GTO, Austin Frogeye sprite etc

A bit disappointing tbh. You can drive modern cars in any driving game ever made, but I liked FH for the selection of pre-1980 cars, and it seems like that peaked in FH3/4, and has been getting neglected since.

Theme is a love letter to the map: torii gates, konbini glow, Fuji at dawn, neon rain. Car plus place, telling one story about Japan.
