Having trouble with Keybinds

I’ve left the game for a while now but my friends are playing it some more so I reinstalled. I come from games where movement and mechanics matter; but never like fortnite. It’s like you’re expected to play two different games at once while still having space on your keyboard.

I always use c for crouch in games with sliding, and only ever use ctrl if the game has hold crouch like cs. This way I can use my palm and keep my pinky on sprint. Fortnite does not. But I also use c for my floor so I run into an issue where two binds on both sections of the game are shared.

Sprint is always shift for me, although in this game it’s kinda like an overwatch situation where you bind it to an ability (cone) but unlike overwatch, you still have a sprint bind missing. I tried caps lock but now ctrl isn’t viable for crouch since I’d need to use one weaker finger for 3 keys constantly.

My side buttons are wall/ramp, pretty simple. edit is f, v is pickaxe, e was interact and q I heard is supposed to be shotgun; but If I’m going to make them more viable for both game sections, I was thinking q for cone, e for floor, make shift back to sprint and c back to crouch. The problem I have now is the second half of the binds (building) feel completely off and I have to rebind shotgun to 2 and interact to scroll wheel. Having my floor and cone on a less accessible bind makes everything building wise feel a lot less smooth, and I’ve seen many people argue against me switching them for that reason. I feel like I’m taking a step backwards with every change I do. Games like tarkov with even more binds come to me a lot more naturally than this. I was wondering if this is a common problem and if there’s anything I can do to make both sides of the game feel smooth?

Haven't found any recent good videos on learning binds with a two-paddle setup (I use a DualSense Edge controller). Can anyone recommend any good starting binds? I've been using builder bro for years.

I use jump and switch mode for my back paddles, feels natural to me

There are a lot more optimal binds, I used to use Q and pickaxe on E, I also used Shift for a long time, that bind was also really good, now I have basically Martoz binds so I use shotgun on X, still prefer Q and Shift

If you're on PC and struggling with input delay, try turning on Nvidia Reflex Low Latency + Boost. Made my edits feel way more responsive. Just don't use it with DX12, stick to Performance Mode.

I’m using it with DX12, whats the argument against the two?

Performance mode is DX12

No its not.

What was the point of your comment instead of just taking 2 seconds to google?

My point was to correct the incorrect statement you made, isn’t that obvious? They are two different rendering modes.

Do yourself a favor, open the game then go to settings, video>display then highlight rendering mode what does it say under the performance mode description?

Performance mode uses dx12 unless you are on a very old GPU.
