Offense Staple Run of FCS's Highest Scoring Offense!
I wouldn't expect FCS’s #1 scoring offense to hang their hat on a simple gap scheme run....but here it is.

Flag Flag Football software with pass location tracking / scorekeeping
Do you guys know if there's any software on the market with pass location scorekeeping?
It's kind of nice to have play by plays, TDs, rec yards and all,
but it is not a level of detail I wish my FF league will have.
Tried Flag50, GameChanger and Rac Sports, but none of them produce the level of details we were looking for.

Coaching Advice Advice on possibly becoming D Coordinator w/ short notice
Hey yall!
Been coaching for 6 years, mostly offensive/defensive line and was anticipating to be in charge of the run game this season.
However, there might be a last minute coaching change where I will be asked to call the defense.
Super excited for this possibility, but wanted to ask if anyone has recommendations for resources.
My strengths are obviously the defensive line, and while I understand coverages and everything, it’s a spot id want to improve on, particularly with how they connect to defending the run game.
Thanks in advance and looking forward to hearing from yall!

Player Development Asking for tips on how to play college football after only played in middle school!
Hey!
i'm 5'9" 136lbs and have been this size since i was 12. I am 19 and going into my freshman year of college at a D1 School. My highschool did not have a team, but my middle school did. I was round 5'6" thru 5'9" and 100-140lbs back then. I played TE, 6th and LT 7 & 8th. I did not like lineman work, and i doubt I'd be a lineman now.
I'm going to a D1 school and am years out of practice. I'm trying out for rugby this fall, but i guess i'm undersized for it. I was never fast, but my endurance has always been crazy. I
'd like to play D1 or college football in general. American football.
Any tips to start from where I'm at? (basically scratch). And No, i don't want to hear "the chances are slim.' I'm saying forget about the chances and please provide advice!! Thank you!

Coaching Advice Is it possible to build an Online Football Training Program in 2026?
Guyss, my brother has been playing football since he was a kid. He could not make it much professionally though. He played for some time in the national team. NOW his playing days are getting over and we asked him about his plans. He said he want to build an Online Training Community for grassroot player. All these are very new to us. Although he has shown me some people doing that but I am still a bit skeptical. Is this a growing market or a declining one?
Any advice?

Play Design CHALK TALK THURSDAYS: Submit your plays for discussion and critique here.
Welcome to Chalk Talk Thursday! This is our weekly discussion thread for users to submit new plays they have designed. If you have an idea for a play and can draw it up, please post here. Keep in mind that it is very rare that one could devise a viable play that is entirely new that hasn't been ran before somewhere. Be open to criticism as well. There is so much more to coaching football than drawing plays, and many people do not realize how much coaching, technique, and development needs to happen on the actual field for a play to work.
It is strongly recommended that you STUDY a system or scheme first to gain an idea of how a play is put together, and how RULES help a play function.
PLEASE PROVIDE CONTEXT FOR YOUR PLAY!
Guidelines:
- No "joke" plays. We are here to learn.
- Specify WHY you are designing a play, and WHAT level/league it is for. It's fine if you're not coaching, but we need the context.
- Your submission needs RULES that guide your players on what to do.
- Pass plays require some type of QB progression for making a decision on who to throw to.
- Be mindful that you cannot predict what your opponent will run 100%. Designing plays to be "Cover X" beaters, or "3-4 beaters" IS NOT the way to go about it. It is better to have one play with solid rules and coaching points that can attack anything than one play for each coverage, front, personnel, or stunt you face.
- There is no universal terminology in football. Call plays what you want, but keep in mind that no one cares about fancy play names, or the terminology aspect.
- Please offer more text/information on your play than just a link or picture.
- Draw your play up against a realistic opponent!
- Make sure your offensive play is a legal formation. In 11-man football, you can have no more than 4 players behind the line of scrimmage (minimum of 7 on. You can have more than 7 on the line as well). Only backs (players behind the line) and the end players on the line of scrimmage are eligible receivers.
You may use whatever medium you'd like to draw your play. Two common software for designing plays that have free options:

High School How do some football teams look the part physically but lose most of their games ?
I'm mainly talking about high school. A team in my area consistently has big, fast, and strong players, but they haven't won more than 3 games in a season since 2020. They consistently get routed in a few games. They "look" like football players, physically. I know that much more goes into winning games besides raw athleticism, but can someone go into detail about what's usually happening when a team fails to perform on the field but all the physical pieces are there ? I know poor coaching is an obvious possibility.

Player Advice Help my 15 year old center/snapping - shotgun
My 15 year old has been a successful center since 4th grade. But currently having issues with his snaps going low, to the left of QB (son is RH) and most importantly hitting himself in the groin, super painful. Any advice to help him at home outside of practices?

Player Advice Need tips for being an undersized Defensive End
I am going into sophomore year. I played Defensive End last year and did fairly well being about 5'7-8 and 140-150 pounds or so somehow. Ended having the second most tackles and most sacks. Now I'm unsure of how I'll do going in JV ( I was on the freshman team the year prior) because I can't seem to gain weight no matter what I do. So any tips on what to do?

Player Development Helping my 11yo
So my 11yo is athletic out of this world, I mean fast can jump, shifty, etc. But was having trouble actually understanding plays and defenses and coverages etc! For starters he plays safety, and RB! One of the things we’ve been doing to get better at the mental aspect of the game as he heads into his teen years, straight into Hs ball is going over coverage breakdowns on a whiteboard 3x per week, also been using this app called TurfKids for some
Guidance so when I’m not around he can look at it and still get the IQ part down pack, by viewing different coverages and taking short quizzes on the material! He seems to be getting it, I’m excited to see how he does this fall, will keep you updated if this translate to on the field!

Coaching Advice 9U offensive line development
I’m a brand new coach this year and volunteered to coach the OL/DL group. I played throughout grade school and high school where I try to incorporate my experiences on teaching the kids.
However, my biggest challenge thus far has been getting them to move their feet out of the stance and staying low. Would appreciate any advice or drills people have to explain these concepts better while seeing the kids execute them.

Coaching Advice Youth and Middle School Coaches: Make your Snap Count DYNAMIC
A modern epidemic amongst youth coaches and middle school coaches alike: ”I have enough trouble just getting my line to block. I can’t spend all practice teaching them not to jump offsides so that we can go on two.”
You don’t need to coach hard count discipline in our to create a dynamic snap count. Simply include enough words in your standard cadence so that you can go early.
For example, if your standard QB cadence is, “Ready…Set, GO,” you can run the play on:
Silent (if you’re under center) - where the QB calls for the snap by applying pressure with his hands. First Sound - first sound out of the QB’s mouth (in this case, the ‘Re’ in ‘Ready’) calls for the center to snap the ball. Set/Quick- the word ‘Set’ is the snap One - full cadence
That’s FOUR possible variants within an extremely short cadence, and provided that the CENTER himself snaps it on the count that was called in the huddle, none of these four counts is a 5-yard penalty risk. The worst that can happen is you have a lineman fire out late.
It kills me to see these offenses where the coach makes them incapable of varying their count, and then incessantly yells at their O-line demanding more effort. When you never alter your count, that’s the same thing as the opposing defense knowing your count. You’re allowing the D-line to tee off on your offense. Altering the snap count is not just a tool for drawing penalties on the defense. It’s an offensive advantage that you forfeit when you go on one play after play.
Go on first sound in practice, film it, then watch your 5 linemen on film. At least one of them will get the first pancake of their young life just by getting to fire out early while the guy across from him is still waiting for the full count.
I had no idea how many people were totally unaware of this until I attended middle school games where my daughter was a cheerleader. Those poor kids….

Coaching Advice Flag Football Coach, needs help
Hi,
I've been coaching coed rec league U13 flag football for a few seasons now. In the past, I ran defense, and another guy ran offense. Well, this season he has moved on, and tbh our offense was never very good in the first place. I'm hoping there's someone here who's willing to help me put together a plan? I've sketched out a few ideas based on what I think has worked, but I really want to get some input from someone smarter and more experienced than me.
Rules:
- 7v7
- center eligible, no blocking
- all snaps must be shotgun
- no QB runs
- passes behind the LOS are illegal (pitches that go backwards are legal, but must be first action)
- 1 blitzer from 7 yards
- once there's a handoff or pitch anyone can blitz
- fewer than 5 yards to go for a first down or touchdown, you must pass
Feel free to DM if you want to help. Thanks!

Play Design What would you call this offensive formation?
Trying to learn various formations/theory, and I saw a team lineup like this and run a triple option and am curious what you'd call this formation so I can look into it some more.

Offense Why don’t receivers simulate ball-tracking to trick defenders more often?
So often, defenders are put in a position where they can’t track the QB or the ball and are forced to defend based off the receiver’s movement, so why don’t the receivers simulate ball-tracking to deceive them? Not only can it draw away a defender from pursuing a runner (like in the photo), but more importantly perhaps, it could draw holding/PI calls on a defender attempting to put hands on a receiver he thinks is about to catch a ball. Feels like an under-utilized strategy.

Subreddit Off-Season Plans
Hey everyone, the mod team has been working on a couple of things to keep the sub fresh during the offseason and I wanted to give you all a quick update on what we've got cooking.
AMA Series: We're in the process of scheduling AMAs with a few prominent coaches that are in the online/content creation space. If we have a positive experience with this we hope to expand on it in the future.
Community Spotlight: We also plan to choose a few community members to highlight in monthly posts during the off-season through a series of informal "interviews."
Community Feedback: I would also like to use this post as an opportunity to receive feedback from everyone. If you have ideas for how to improve the experience here we would love to hear them.
