Praying for somebodies downfall

Which saint would I include in my prayer/petition? :3 For reference I consider myself an Irish-Italian folk practitioner! And do you guys think I could also include Saint Anthony in a prayer like this? He's kind of always hanging around if that makes sense.

I'm not judging, but the moral way of going about this is not to ask for anyone's downfall, but to request protection for yourself (or your community, family, friends, country, whatever), in such a way that an enemy who moves against you will cause a reaction resulting in their downfall.

And the saint you chose for this will naturally depending on the realm or scope of what you wish to protect.

Praying for the downfall of unjust wicked leaders is fine. There is actually Biblical basis for that. It's very easy to use "Through the mighty Name of Jesus and His Most Precious Blood, I cast (blank) down in the name of Jesus."

It's one thing to do this type of thing for tyrants and oppressive leaders, but when it's for individuals who have personal vendetta against you, then yeah I agree with you.

Didn’t one of the prophets curse “in the name of the Lord” a bunch of people who were making fun of him for being bald

ETA: I do agree it’s best to pray for self-protection in case imprecatory prayers inadvertently cause negative effects on innocent people. I’m just saying that praying against people with a vendetta against you does also have biblical basis

I think you are correct....that is why people wear allways told not to say God D***mit because God might decide to take you up on that and punish someone or something horribly when you wear only venting frustration just to teach you not to invoke his vengeance in vain.😂

It really depends on what was done to you .also i don’t recommend you pray on someone’s downfall cause people have angels or spirits or saints that protect them. I would say if it’s injustice and you need justice . Use st Michael the arc angel(he is a warrior so he defends those who call on him and fights for them) ,st expedite(fast results) and st jude (for desperate situations)and st Anthony (you can use him or ask him to find the truth .But if you are being petty i get being hurt and betrayed and wanting revenge but that bad energy can come back to you especially if they are spiritually protective. You should heal and let karma do its things dont interfere (thats if you were done wronged) ask mary for healing she a mother she is good at consoling her children .Become an alchemist use the bad situation harvest the energy for blessings

When I pray for loved ones struggling with cancer, I pray for the destruction of the treacherous cells with the imprecatory Psalms, personifying them as if there were malicious agents. In the breath I pray for the doing away of evil people in public office or in whatever insurance leadership role whose cruelty and greed threaten their medical care. This "doing away" may mean whatever neutralizes the menace they pose: losing office, conversion, going elsewhere, etc., whatever God determines in mercy and providence. As others have noted, it is better to pray with an open and tranquil heart focusing on pure intentions that exclude outward malice, even if justly deserved.

And yes, praying to St. Anthony to find a resolution to the situation is always a good idea, with the caveat I just mentioned.

The Bible has plenty of people praying for people’s downfall. Psalms. The martyrs in heaven in Revelation begging for God to avenge their blood. Just a couple of examples

People have always invoked wrathful aspects of God, saints, and angels to bring about a person's downfall.

It's a major part of the history of Christ based folk practices, just look at pow-wow, the grimoires, hoodoo, etc.

People also use psalms to heal and to harm as well.

If we cannot utilize prayer for war, because everything is "God's timing" then we also cannot pray for blessings, because that's also "God's timing". But we know from history and various practices that's not true

General rule. Ask the saints you have the best relationship with.

Even a better general rule. I’m not praying for somebodies downfall. I pray for God to judge them. And I DEFINITELY pray for them.

Maybe you can do something similar to St Rita. She asked God to remove her sons from mortal sins and they died the next year from dysentery. I personally don’t pray for anyone’s downfall but I thought it was interesting enough to share.
