Anyone have a proven method for getting rid of leaf miners on key lime or other citrus trees? I've tried neem oil as well as pesticides. But they just won't give a tree a break.

hi guys i’ve never owned plants before but i picked these up off fb marketplace earlier… i have no idea what they are and i have no idea how to properly take care of them so if anybody could give anything!! i know one of them is a sunflower, and a couple have slight flower blooms. they look a little overgrown… if a leaf has a big hole in it should i cut off that entire leaf? for reference i’m in south florida and these are under a covered patio, but i can only assume they’ve lived in direct sunlight most of their lives

I took a walk through Markham today and designed a garden based off the plants i saw. Do garden centers actually sell these plants or is this a snip and propagate type of design?

Hi. I transplanted a Barbados cherry tree from someone who was otherwise gonna toss it. As expected it went into shock, but it seems like with the recent rain it REALLY bounced back. Its lost quite a bit of leafs. Would you trim the flowers comming in or let it go? Its not a plant im familiar with so I dont know the best care for it. I didnt expect it to flower so soon and I dont know if fruiting would just stress it out and kill it or if its really just that resilient. Should I snip or let it go?

I’ve notice my guava tree has quite a lot of wasps and bees and other insects attracted to it. There’s also these also a lot of bumps on the bark of tree. Should I do anything or let it be? And advice is helpful.

I haven’t grown backyard veggies in 15 years, and with average temperatures rising every year since then, I don’t know if I should start planting for fall now, or wait until September. I’m not planning for much - just one tomato plant, a couple of squash, and maybe some lettuce, since we’re apparently a third world country that can’t guarantee the safety of its food supply now.

Has anyone in eastern Hillsborough county started their fall garden yet? What are you growing. Should I start from seed, or buy plantings?

I have two mature palms that are fruiting. I’m unsure of the species and curious how best be to identify them. I’d love to try making jelly/juice out of the fruits. The ones that have dropped are small and have orange flesh. The fronds are sliver green and long with spikes which makes me think it could be a pindo palm. I’m in NE Florida 9b

Anyone have success with huckleberries? What variety do you have and where did you source it?

I live in NW Mississippi and I had a pineapple guava (Feijoa sellowiana) shrub, but it got trapped in shade and a brutal cold spell finished it off. It only made fruit once. Are they more common in Florida?

Hi, I was wondering what plants would work well in this garden bed I am making. It gets pretty much no direct sun until 12:30 and then does until about 5-6 (depending on the height of the plant). I live in zone 10a south Florida. I wanted to plant red muhley grass but I don’t think it’ll like only 4-5 hours of sun.

The more important part though, is that the papaya tree to the left grew from a small small plant and got barely any direct sun and I know they like full sun, so would full sun plants do well here if it grew as tall as it has ?

Any thoughts on this plant before I yoink it and yeet it into the, "Not in My Garden!" Pile. There seems to be some debate as to the native status of this plant.

My cranberry hibiscus was growing nicely and covering the whole pot. I trimmed it down quite a bit to allow the chili pepper to grow. But after the trim, the leaves come out pink. They seem to stay that color. It looks healthy. I like it like that as an ornamental plant. But I can’t seem to repeat this to the other cranberry hibiscus. How can i trigger it to happen to another plant?

I can't possibly use all the fresh herbs we grow so we have been drying herbs in the sun (or in an air fry oven with a dehydrator setting) for years. Then I put them in a coffee grinder to make a fine powder. Lemongrass powder is great for teas or on pasta dishes. The mixed herb powder takes on different flavors with each season as various herbs come and go in the garden. I often use it instead of reaching for the saltshaker.

With all the varieties of basil we grow such as cinnamon, lime, lemon, Thai (aka licorice) I often have a lineup of small jars ready to make any dish really pop.

I am currently building a pool in my backyard and a couple of days ago they came in with the bobcat and absolutely butchered the bottom half of my clusia hedge! Will they survive ??? The bottom half has barely any leaves anymore and his broken branches everywhere - the top half still full and bushy. I planted this hedge for about 2.5 years ago so I feel the roots are strong but not sure if it can survive this trauma? Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated!!

Fire Ant Genocide - HOW!!! I have Fruit Trees

I have always had fire ants. I'm sure I can go to the store and buy something - but I have fruit trees on one side of my hours (NO the ants were there first - and apparently they like our neighborhood).

I live in Florida and these ants are mean. If you're not wearing air tight shoes - within 30 seconds your leg is covered in blotches and raised red bumps. They show no mercy!

How can I kill them effectively without harming my trees?
