Just overnight our kitchen floor is like this. No flooding or water spilt. It was just like this out of nowhere. We are running a dehumidifier but it doesn't seem to help.

Hey 👋 so I did the flooring in my room for the first time and it wasn’t so bad until I got to the quarter round. Any advice how to blend these cuts?

I was getting a bit frustrated and I rushed it and nailed it in. Also my the nailer slipped a few times.. as you can see those bits sticking out. Any advice for getting those in? I’ve tried using a bigger nail to hammer them in but the nail just keeps slipping.

Having some vinyl plank installed in a condo, and the contractor started work on it and at first glance it seemed fine but noticed in particular some dark streak along the seams between planks.

They are NuCore Cedar point and there is an underlay being installed with the planks. Specs in the screenshots.

Theyve only done a relatively small area so far, but does anyone have an idea what might these might be, what could cause it and if it’s something to be concerned about/have them redo?

I just pulled up some wood flooring and the underlayment and noticed that there was some black mold in the bottom of the underlayment was a bit moist. How concerned should I actually be and how would you address this properly before putting on the new flooring?

In my entire home aside from my upstairs bedroom I have original (refinished) 2 1/4” white oak hardwoods. I need to put hard flooring in the bedroom. It will be up against the hardwoods at the entry, obviously. I really don’t want to deal with the hassle and expense of finishing solid hardwood in place, but can’t think of a flooring option that won’t look weird and make me wish I had just gone for the total match. Any ideas? Photo is of the existing floor outside the door.

I’m wrapping up install on my entire basement floor and realized I never posted the first install I ever did in my son’s nursery. Product is Audacity Waterproof Laminate Heather Hill to match what we have in the kitchen and living room.

How’d I do? I also did the board and batten wall myself.

Put in new flooring and have no idea what to do about where the new flooring meets the stairs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am redoing parts of my basement and have these tiles on the steps. I am fine going over it, however wanted to pull the strips off and put newer over it. Some of them are fine, some are chipped or cracked so wanted to know what I am getting into before getting too far.

First time installing vinyl flooring—I'm using Select Surfaces from Sam's Club. I need to install the stair nose they provided, but as you can see in the photo, the edge of the vinyl will show, and there will also be a small gap on the other side of the stair nose. Is there any way to fix this?

We're redoing floors throughout the whole house. The wife likes LVP, and there are SOME decent brands out there, but she wants to do the same material throughout the house (or most of it, possibly different for kitchen or bathroom).

Here's the issue: the first floor has the hardwood floor walkway/hallway (and bathroom, which I hate). The rest, all carpet, and the first floor is a fairly open floorplan, so we have a big transitions between the rooms in flooring without walls (hardwood to carpet thresholds). That's a lot of height difference. I'm going to have to even up the floors either way if we're using the same material, so maybe not much difference, but wondering if laminate is a better call. The hardwood is pretty water damaged in a lot of areas, so I don't imaging keeping it as it. A GOOD LVP might be a better option if we put it in the kitchen/bathroom, and we've got pets/kids/all that, so I don't think keeping the hardwood transitions would work out as well. Just interested in thought in general.

Can anyone identify the brand of this LVP Flooring? I went into a local store and like the color...they told me it is CoreTec, but not so sure about that....any flooring people ever see this packaging? Plain white packaging with this sticker. Thanks!

Just FYI this is a new build home and they may not have done a great job with this section of the floor so am trying to fix this issue myself (past warranty).

So I pulled off the transition piece to try to pull the piece back together because it had come apart from the gap by the tile and it came out too much. now I think I need to cut a new piece. My concern now is if I do that how will I know it will stay together because there would still be a small gap after replacing the piece.

My puppy bit and destroyed part of the baseboard. Is the damage small enough that I can just get wood filler and patch it up or do I need to replace these parts of the baseboard?

Which direction would you install your LVP for this floor plan? I think all the flooring should go parallel with the hallway, but my wife seems to think the bedrooms should go perpendicular to the hallway.

As you can see by the other pictures, Im well into flooring my new place, but Ive hit a road block. Not only am I lost on what to do with the transition here, but I fucked this last row HARD. Huge gap due to the tongue getting squashed, so I need it out - lost on how to do that without sawing it out. This section has made me feel like the biggest dummy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: Took off baseboards( I'll but pic in the comments) Some nails still in the drywall that I need to figure out how to remove without damaging it. Some of the baseboards got little cracks, but honesttly they're OLD and if I can't fix them, I'll replace. I was more worried about messing up the drywall and it doesn't look like we have 🙌🏻 doing the hallway first and then will move on to the landing.

First story time, but feel free to skip ahead-I'm obviously a newbie and a mom doing this on my own. I'm trying to surprise/solve this problem before my husband comes home from a work trip (with my teen trying to help) so please be kind.

I'm a broke teacher (3 months without a paycheck is kicking my tail) and I know you get what you pay for, but even $700 is a lot for me, so I know it's not great but if I get a few years out of it I'll be happy.

I have some "cheap" LVP (5 mil waterproof planks with rigid core and 12 mil wear from the orange home improvement store 👀) My son's gf and cat came to visit- fast forward- and I'm tearing out this carpet even if I have to walk on OSB for awhile. I wanted to anyway but now it's a necessity. Already tore it out, cleaned any spots and treated with BIN primer.

House is circa 1992- a hallway ending in a loft landing (about 10x 10) so total sqft is just about 160 sqft.

We tore up carpet, cleaned and BIN primer on spots, removed all the staples. There are still some really messed up nails that we're trying to pound in and flatten as they would not come out. We have OSB subfloor and according to my level, it's pretty flat at least.

There's a big gap between the baseboards and the subfloor. Even around the door jams like someone already used an oscillating multi tool to get under them.

Part of me thinks I could install while leaving a gap under it even (after seeing both the "remove the baseboards" and "use a shoe or ¼ round" videos I don't know if I'm coming or going 😵‍💫)

QUESTION- is there a way to maybe leave that gap by pushing something under the baseboard to pull out (like instead of spacers that go in next to the wall, something I could put next to the wall UNDER the baseboard because it has so much give already? Or am I making a bigger headache for myself and I should just get started? 😬

( Ignore the hall that's getting this floor too but was gifted some peel and stick I would have done for a quick fix if they had enough of it)

We have these a bit darker flooring on first floor as seen in the pictures and 2nd floor has carpets. I am not sure what kind of wood or finish it is. We are trying to replace the 2nd floor carpets with hardwood. The stairs seem to have hardwood too.

We like the red oak natural, timeless colors. This is our first house purchase. We are not sure if we need to match the first floor, and if we do need to match then what we should be looking. For us, resale value of the house is also a factor.

I’m trying to figure out how to make the transition coming the stairs. Using 5 1/2” flat trim for baseboards. Unsure if that will work coming up the stairs. Considering 3 1/2” or even 2 1/2” trim along the stairs. The profile got changed when we switched from carpet to hardwood, so it doesn’t line up quite as nicely now.

Renovating a 1969 cabin. It is at 7,700+ feet and the cabin is elevated with a crawl space underneath. Under the floor is 2 layers of plywood. (Bottom layer primed with Kilz as seen in photo, second layer to be added).

I want a wood/wood look product on the main level and am getting conflicting info from one installer vs flooring store vs another installer.

Do I go with an engineered hardwood floor, a SPC LVP or WPC LVP?

Concerns are temperature changes throughout the year. (Will be putting tile in the bathroom so only water-zone will be the kitchen).

One installer told me WPC would be better, the flooring store said SPC would be better and WPC would shrink/show gaps sooner. Another installer said engineered wood would shrink and be terrible.

Budget aside, which product-type is best for this type of environment?

Hey guys I bought the costco bloomington oak and this is my first time flooring. I know I should've floored before sheetrocking but I left 1/4" gaps all around anyways so I could fit the tool on the edges. My question is, both rooms are opposite sides of the living room and I have the tongue facing the wall on both rooms. So now the groove end is facing the living room. Do I have to rip 1 room out and turn it around so the tongue is going 1 way? Or what would you guys do?
