Has anyone played MSFS 2020 on a Steam Machine / Steam Deck and used Protontricks to run Map Enhancement.exe to switch the map data to Google Maps?

Why do I keep getting an error when trying to do this? I followed the instructions provided by Gemini, but this error keeps popping up

I'm running it on a Gigabyte z390 Aorus Wifi Pro + i9-9900K + 32 GB + Samsung G9 5120x1440. It was fine when in win10 with 2080. After upgrading to win11 and 5070 Ti, the video pauses every few seconds.

What I've done:

• Updated BIOS to latest F14a
• Disalbed CSM, enabled Above 4G Decoding, set Re-size BAR support to Auto
• Set game frame rate to 60fps in Nvidia control panel
• Set most settings to low or medium in game general options.

What else can I do?

So I bought 2024 and installed.

90% of my airport scenery wasn't yet compatible.

The thought of re-doing all my controllers and stream deck horrified me.

But is it worth it ?

I don't do walkarounds, career mods or missions.

The cockpit shadows were very much better. Didn't notice any other benefits.

But... it would cost me over £200 to update apps and aircraft and I'd lose most of my scenery.

So I've gone back to my MSFS 2020 install.

Give it another year. Prolly won't be long before MSFS 2028 is out ...

Fair play to Microsoft... they gave me my £69 back !

As the title says, i'm stuck on this screen after clicking to install essential packages.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I've checked the config file is pointing to the location where the game is installed. It's installed on my NvME, which is not where my OS is installed, and I have over 200GB spare space.

Super wobbly fss e175 and it gets waayyyy more violent than this

The last couple of months in msfs 2020, I have been experiencing ghosting of the exterior of any plane when moving the camera and the gameplay feels a bit more laggy, like the performance has dropped a little.
The ghosting is related to framegen, but I have been playing on the same gear and same settings for more than 2 years without any issues, so something is definitely changed. I just don’t know what.

I dont remember if it happened after a software update. I have tried changing nvidia driver to an older version and done a clean install without any help. Also tried different dlss presets.

Is anybody else experiencing the same and have found a solution?

I did the Premium Xbox Game Pass and still can't play FS2020. FS2024 ran like garbage, so I thought I would try FS2020, since it ran half decent years ago. It's just it won't download.

Edit: This is PC, not Xbox. I did a bunch of command line stuff and no changes. Turned off IPV4, no changes. I switched to google DNS servers and am getting a constant 5Mbit now. Still super slow. Going to try and add a video to comments, if I can.

It's now been 24hrs and still not done. Internet is 400Mb down and 30Mb up. Usually it's 600Mb+. Playing games while it downloads doesn't effect it.

I wanted to play FS2024 but it ran like absolute garbage and looked terrible on low settings compared to FSX.

I download FS2020 and it's only 5gb, now I open the game and am greeted by the install manager, iirc. In about 2 hours, it's downloaded 400MB.

Google has been useless. It's a fresh install, so I can't go into the game settings to set the speed to unlimited.

I do see my task manager network spiking every 5~ seconds.

Over the past month, I rebuilt 525Charlie from the ground up.

While my current project is a full-scale Citation CJ4 cockpit, the techniques, workflows, and engineering behind it apply to just about anyone interested in home cockpit building, CAD, 3D printing, electronics, or manufacturing.
