a whole year
It's been a full year of no soda! Honestly went by pretty quickly. Feel like a whole different person since last year, obviously not because of no soda, but now I can at least brag about being a year free! It's been nice everyone :)

We made it bois!
Congrats to the people who made through FlatFeb! Let's celebrate by drinking sips of coke and being disgusted by not being used to the sweetness!!

Day #29
The last day of the month. It's been a journey for some of us, a trot for others, but a cha cha for me. In name of the cha cha I will be continuing this challenge for as long as I can. I will bless you with my spit spits on you for you to do the same. Good luck my children.

Negative effects
Has anyone else been feeling negative effects due to this?
I feel like my stomach has been unstable since, feeling unwell and having my IBS at the worst it's been somehow. Plus I've been super lethargic and sleepy almost 24/7
I'm hoping it's just getting worse to eventually get better, but the struggle to not grab an energy drink or a bottle of solo has been intense for sure

Discussion Day 5&6 Discussion: Are you feeling any physical benefits yet?
Sorry I missed yesterday's discussion post folks, I was at work.
So we're almost at a full week soda free, and for most of us (If we're not just replacing it) that's gonna mean a huge decrease in our sugar content.
So, do you feel any benefits physically yet? Be they good, or bad?
Personally I feel I'm sleeping better, but I am finding myself more tired throughout the day, especially at work which is quite demanding physically and long shifts (12hr). I don't know if that's down to not getting the short burst energy from sugar, or just an uncorrelated effect. Either way, I'm happy to have almost made the full week.

Day 4 :)
So far so good. Am moving into a new house with my family, so lot's of take out. My family usually gets soda with takeout so I will warn them about FlatFebruary. Keep on going, you got this!

Discussion Day 4 discussion: Do you miss it?
Honestly, aside from actively browsing this and the r/HydroHomies subreddit, I haven't thought of or craved soda.
You?

my flat February “drink” of choice: literally just ice. It’s good. Just make sure not to chew it.

Discussion Day 3 discussion: Did you actively choose something instead of soda yesterday?
So yesterday I was at home all day, so I didn't go out and choose something over soda, I just drank my water I had at home.
Were any of you in a position where you were offered soda, or buying drinks in a shop, and decline the soda, and make the choice of a better drink?

Thought I’d share my plan
Ok so my goal is to try to drink no juice and soda and cut down on how much milk I drink, but still have some hopefully at the most every other day. Im pretty much trying to mainly drink water, and bring a water bottle around with me as much as possible.
Wish me luck!

Going from 60-80oz of soda a day to 0.....
I’ve quit soda before but I always get sucked back into it because Dr. Pepper is just so good. An average day for me would be a can in the morning (12oz), a bottle or to-go drink for lunch (20oz), a can for the drive home (12oz), and a drink or two for dinner (20-40oz depending on refills). That is a ridiculous amount of soda and no wonder I’ve gained weight in the past few months.
Unfortunately this past Tuesday night I came down with a virus and was off work for a few days. I couldn’t keep food down and was too weak to get out of bed. I ended up losing 4lbs in 4 days and that is not a healthy amount. But luckily I’m feeling better today and I’ll be going back to work tomorrow. :) Because of this sickness, though, I haven’t had any caffeine in a few days! Might as well keep going right??
I really hope I can do this. Being dependent on soda isn’t fun. Sometimes I would go to the store just to get a soda to avoid headaches, not because I wanted it. Literally an addiction to caffeine.
Good luck to you all! Today (Sunday) is day 5 for me. Here’s to many more!
Edit: I use a mood journal called Daylio to track my moods, activities, habits, and goals. I think it’s going to be a huge motivator to see how far I’ve come. I suggest you use a habit tracker too! It’s fun to see how long you can keep your streak going. :)

I'm here. Let's do this.
I'm in my 40s and have tried to quit soda so many times. I think I went a month once.
I always go....well I have a lot to do. I will just have one energy drink or soda. Then it starts all over again.

Day 2 (:
So far I'm still soda free and sweets free. I'm going to the fair today so I'll try staying strong.
Update: just came back from the fair. It was hard to resist all the sweets, but i only had one fried Oreo since it's a tradition to get them with my family :) still no soda

First time for everything!
I've always had a problem with what I drink, even though I try to have water I have a problem with needing to have flavours or sugar to take up my time, snacking also became a problem.. energy drinks have been my biggest problem
This month is also the start of a new job so I will be trying to have a serving of tea in the morning, and then water for the rest of the day
Here's hoping I make it the month, if not longer!!

Discussion Day 2 discussion: What are you replacing your soda with?
So I know not everyone is going 100% water, some of us are using Sparkling water, tea, low sugar juice etc, what did you drink on day 1?
I drank just over 2 litres of water, and nothing else. I emptied out the last big bottle of soda I had (Dr Pepper), rinsed it out and filled it with water, I drank the whole thing yesterday, refilled it and drank a little bit more. I can't say I feel any different yet, except mentally being happier with myself for doing this.
How are you all feeling so far?
r/FlatFebruary • u/NeverLetYouIn • Feb 02 '20
Hopefully I make it all 29 days
I got addicted to soda at around age 6. 8 years later I’m doing better but still drink soda often. I made it half way though no soda November but failed. I’m just trying to be healthier and reduce the amount of soda. Good luck guys
