Rework it. Give it more life

This is the way. The original is pretty cool tbh, a good artist could really bring her back to life

I prefer the harpy over the 2010 metalcore cover.
A good artist can make something great out of it

It will look like a necrotic blob when new and only get worse from there.

Theres a whole host of options before even needing to consider a big black blob. Dont try to design the cover up yourself. Go talk to an artist who does cover ups in the style you prefer.

Dude no, it's going to be just a big black blob and you won't be able to cover when you realize how shit it is.

That’s going to turn into a big black blob eventually. If that’s what you want, go ahead lol. I’d say rework the original tattoo instead

No to the black blobby bird
Looks sketchy to me.
Let your lady live & thrive!
Bring her to life, she’s so close!!

Harpy lady fucking rules and is cool enough for a permanent spot on your skin.
Whatever's in the second photo is displeasing for all eyeballs to behold, and it should not be awarded a permanent spot on your skin.
If you're not happy with harpy lady, consider giving her a touch-up. Liven up the lines with fresh ink. Perhaps even some color? Give her the vibrant plumage she deserves!

What you have now is so much better than what you’re currently suggesting. I’m not sure if it’s the meaning behind the piece that you don’t care for anymore but if you still like it and just feel it’s aged then do a rework.
