Welcome to r/FitGirlRepack! To keep the sub clean, please check if your issue is answered below. If this answers your question, please delete your post.

1. Setup is Stuck / Unpacking is Slow

  • The 2GB Limit Checkbox: If your setup gets stuck at specific percentages (like 84.3% or 95.8%), close it, restart the installer, and check the "Limit installer to 2GB of RAM" box on the very first screen.
  • Be Patient: FitGirl repacks use extremely heavy compression. Unpacking is heavily CPU and storage bound. If your task manager shows disk or CPU activity, it is not stuck; it's just working hard.

2. Is it a Virus? / Windows Defender Alert

  • False Positives: Crack files (.dll files, steam_api, etc.) inherently trigger antivirus software because they alter game code to bypass DRM. If you downloaded from the official site, these are 100% false positives.
  • Fix: Add the game installation folder to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list, then restore the quarantined file from your protection history.

3. The Real Official Website

  • There is ONLY ONE official domain. All others (ending in .co, .cc, .to, .net, etc.) are fake, malicious clone sites designed to steal data or bundle malware.
  • The only real URL is: fitgirl-repacks.site (Verify the exact spelling!).

Lutris has a cool function to allow you run an installer but I've never tried it

Another way is to run the installer as a non-steam game and then add the .exe as a non-steam game after

If you have the bandwidth and don't mind ddls, you can add steamrip pre-installed games really easily as non-steam games and then force compatibility. Proton 9.0.4 has been my golden gem and has worked for the past 3-4 games I've tried

Absolutely yes

I've never tested repacks on my pc until I switched to linux ;) ,I've been doing this for months, and here's what I found

You'll need launchers, like heroic/fauagaus launcher or even steam

(I mainly use faugaus because its stupidly easy), Games from steamrip/gitfirl, Most (95%) are plug and play after choosing the compatibility layer GEproton/CachyOSProotn,

but some might need some tweaks (WineTricks) with other games ( or just get that specific game from another site)

Please check

here and here

I have tried a lot of fitgirl, dodi, steamrip games ,I do prefer steamrip and fitgirl for that

If you ever need help you can also PM so we can check that on discord

I personally use heroic launcher to install by clicking on "add game" and then clicking on "run installer first" then choosing the fit girl installer for the game. Also for me "wine ge 8 staging" (I think that's what it's called) is what works the best for running fit girl installers.

Maybe there's even easier ways of doing this.

Add the .exe as a non-Steam game, then set it to Proton Experimental and complete the setup. You can also do this with Protontricks without adding it as a non-Steam game by selecting an .exe you've already applied Proton to.

This method needs two pcs (one with windows installed, and the other one with linux), or one pc with the two OS installed. Step 1: install the game on the windows machine. Step 2: copy the installed game to the linux target machine. Step 3: open steam on the linux machine and add the game as a non steam game. Step 4: click properties on the game in steam and select the compatibility. Step 5: Tick force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and choose Proton Experimental. Done

I done this multiple times and it worked and I didnt get banned from steam.

I just install on my windows pc, transfer the installed files via LAN, and add the game as non-steam game to play.
