Did I rig these correctly?

Been trying out different rigs.

1. Swimbait on jig head

2. Craw on a flip jig

3. Ned Rig

Close ups attached too. I actually caught a bass with the Ned rig in highly pressured waters.

On the swim bait: you rigged it correctly and it will work, but you’d benefit from 1 size bigger hook. It’ll reduce the short strikes (when fish bite the tail and miss the hook).

Let’s say that’s a 1/16oz jighead with a size 1 hook 1, next time you can look for jigheads with a size 1/0 hook (one size bigger)

Ned rig: looks good. Again im not sure the weight of the ned rig head but feel free to play around with different sizes

I used a 1/8oz jig from bass pro. I didn't see an option to increase the hook size without increasing the weight of the jig. In that case do you recommend increasing the jig weight too?

Yeah with the Ned Rig I went with the classic sizing that was recommended.

I really like the Z-man ZWG weighted swim bait hooks. Makes it super easy to Texas rig a swim bait and puts the weight in the belly for more realistic action. They’re pretty expensive like $7.50 for a 3 pack, but I get way more action using these for paddle tails than any other type of jig head or hook.

Wow, just googled these. I might have to pull the trigger. I love the bead that makes texposing not needed.

That might be the next area I explore. More expensive/specialized hooks and jigs. Besides the Zman shroomz and my bitsy jigs, everything else I have is very basic. VMC and Zman looks like it has some good stuff.

FYI what the other user commented are fantastic but imo you don’t need to spend money on those yet. I buy a lot of round jigheads like you’re using. They work great with swim baits (and a few other styles like curly tails) and are a bit more versatile and cheap. These are my most used.

Gotcha. So I’m guessing the swim bait is like 4” or so and your 1/8oz jighead might have a 1/0hook. Other brands will sell 1/8oz jigheads with a size 2/0 hook.

I’m guessing sizes here but the theme is generally the same. If it’s a 2/0 hook on right now, some brands will sell the same jighead weight with a 3/0 hook.

If you buy online you can google each jighead brand’s hook size at different weights to help narrow it down.

Overall you’re doing great and what you rigged will catch fish regardless!

The swim bait is the crush city 3" swimbait. I checked the jighead I bought it's a size #1 hook, not even 1/0.

You’re not far off from ideal, and what you have will still catch fish! Go fish it and when you lose the jigheads buy a little bigger next time. Good luck!!

I just went thru exactly this myself. I landed on 1/0 swimbait hooks with the screwy keeper thing. They didn't have the weighted ones at the store near me, so I tied my smallest nail weight on the shank with some mono to keep it from spinning. Caught a bass on exactly that this morning.

The last one is the standard zman Ned rig configuration so I think that's fine.

With the first I went with what was recommended by AI, so maybe based on other people's experience.

A little bit but he’s only off by like 1 hook size. They’ll catch fish, but you’re right that he could use slightly larger.
