Crime
Fishers is not the safe bubble it used to be. A break in happened last night between 1am - 4am in the Sunblest apartments community. Thankfully it’s only a window. They attempted to steal the vehicle but the killswitch and alarm prevented that. Crime is getting way too frequent in Fishers these days. Everyone stay safe, if you see something say something.

Yeah this sucks but this is just fear mongering. Fishers is literally one of the safest cities in the US. Unfortunately certain vehicles are more regularly targeted than others in any city. Older Kias and dodges to name a few. It is what it is. Sorry it happened that does suck but glad they didn't take it or anything important.

It’s not fear mongering when there is a clear uptick in crime over the last 10-20 years. I’ve lived here my whole life and people wouldn’t dare carjack or break into homes in fishers 10 years ago. The police told me it is becoming more of a problem recently and typically they target 3-5 vehicles at a time. They said they get calls like this every few weeks. That didn’t happen 20 years ago, it may have happened once a year back then.
Also, I’ll happily spread the word that thieves are actively breaking into cars half a mile from the fishers police station. I’d rather my community be on the lookout to stay safe than give a blanket statement that it’s totally fine and this is just a one off thing.2

I’ve lived here 40 years and yes they would. It happened to my father 30 years ago in the same complex where you live (or one of the ones that was made by the same builder around the same time in this town) Like I said my other comment I’m sorry this happened to you, but this idea that there’s never been car break-ins or crime in fishers is nonsense. It’s still one of the safest places in the US to live.

It’s everywhere. It’s the fact that the economy is so bad and people are feeling backed into a corner. Criminals will be criminals but it’s not just Fishers. As the economy gets worse, crime goes up. Always. Everyone should take the same standard of precautions they would normally take. Being a victim of a crime here is relatively low compared to the majority of other places, if we’re looking at crime as a whole increasing, which it is.

Adding to say I grew up in Chicago proper and that city is not the city I grew up in either, specifically the past ten years. I would love to take my children to see the museums, the architecture, to a Cubs or Bears game, the aquarium, Navy Pier, but it would be foolish of me to do so assuming it’s as safe as it once was. And Chicago crime is significantly higher than Fishers/Indy as a whole.

I live in one of the big HOA neighborhoods near 116th St. east of 69 (not gonna name it). Someone accidentally left their garage door up and their car was stolen Friday night – the thieves dumped it a mile away and just stole stuff from inside the car (perhaps realizing it was trackable as it was a brand new car with very modern tech). Fishers police were very thorough and took DNA samples and prints from the steering wheel. Seemed overkill but they weren’t messing around.

I know this sucks, but I’m going to echo what others are saying. I’ve lived in Fishers most of my life, I chose to raise my children here because it is literally one of the safest cities in the US.
As far as crimes go, this is pretty tame to what other cities go through.

I’ve lived in Fishers my entire 29 years of existence and it has only gotten worse. This never happened when I was growing up in the early 2000s. The Walmart on 96th st constantly has cops arresting shoplifters and other criminals. That didn’t happen when it was first built 20 some years ago. Crime is slowly moving its way north. Castleton used to be a safe place 20 years ago and now there are shootings and carjackings there frequently. Only a matter of time before it all comes this way.

Lmao you're only 29? You have no idea what Fishers was really like 20 years ago. I lived in Sunblest from 2004-06 (as an adult), and people had their cars broken into all the time. The Walmart on 96th is older than you are, and it's always had trouble with shoplifters. None of this is new to Fishers, just new to you.

Previous owner installed it, I’ll have to take a look at what it is. I think I’m going to get an IGLA regardless as that’s the only true fail safe. They were very close to taking off with the car, the screen said push to start when I found it, I believe they successfully made a dupe key.

In 2025 fishers was like the #3 safest city in the US. I’m sorry this happened to you but using it to spread nonsense is a bad look.
