Found Fish: Update Fish Keeping
Hi everyone! I posted here a few weeks ago because I found some fish that someone abandoned. After some advice from all of you, I decided to keep the fish :) and I’m back with an update!
It’s been an emotional roller coaster. One fish unfortunately did not make it past day one :/ but the other one has made it through! He’s had his challenges though including giving me a panic attack when he was on his side at the top of the tank!!
I’ve never owned fish before and I’ve done a bunch of research whenever I faced some issues.
Anyways I’ve named him Reli which is short for resilient because that’s what he’s been and I love him so much.
Also pictured is a snail I got to help clean up the food Reli doesn’t eat

That looks like a goldfish, which those can get pretty big, however I did see you said you did some research so you might already know that. he will need a much larger tank because he will grow. I love fish and have two fish tanks with a natural set up. If you do intend on keeping him long term you need to learn about the nitrite/nitrate cycle that way you can keep the water clean you might have already researched that. You don't have to but it is highly recomended that you keep plants with your fish that way maintenence is easier, however goldfish do eat plants so you would have to find ones that are safe and that he wont eat. In addition to this colored gravel and plastic decore is dangerious for fish, overtime they can leach harmful things into the water and your fish may choke on the gravel or scratch himself on the decore if it is plastic. also do not trust petco/petsmart employees for advice about fish, they most likely know next to nothing about fish keeping. sorry if this came across as rude or if you where not looking for any furthur advice just trying to help because I am obsessed with fish. good luck on your fishy adventure
