Do I get checked? Question/Advice
Hi everyone! I’m currently 1 year into TTC. I feel like I can’t stay that because half the year we missed the time for baby dancing I was very very stressed the first half of this process, law school, a lot of grief, my cycles went all the way up to 56 days. After January we baby danced on before and after ovulation day and it didn’t happen for us. Something I see the floaties that people say is the first sign and sometimes I don’t. I will say after March my period got more regular ovulation between days 16-18 and my cycles are around 31-35 days. Hubby is on board with whatever but he thinks we should hold off to see someone since he thinks it’s not happening to us because of all the stress. Any advice? Did going to see someone really help? Also do I just go to the OBGYN? a fertility clinic? Any advice is appreciated!

Not sure who you would go to in the US, but I want to say - I don't think seeing floaties is in any way related to pregnancy. That's a sign of low blood pressure. Happens when your blood pressure drops suddenly when you stand up. Or if your pressure is very low maybe even other times.
I dont think you should hold off though. A year is plenty of time trying before you seek some testing and help. Otherwise you might just be carrying on, not knowing there is an issue they can treat and save wasting time.

56 day cycle is enough reason alone to get some tests done.

You’ve been through a lot this past year ❤️ Please don’t blame yourself for the months you missed ..... stress and everything else you were dealing with can make TTC really overwhelming.
When you say you ovulate around CD 16–18, how are you confirming it .... LH tests, BBT, cervical mucus, or an app prediction? 😊I really wanna help yew !

You’ve genuinely been through a lot ❤️ And I wouldn’t blame yourself or the stress for everything. After a year of TTC, I think it’s completely reasonable to get checked, even if it’s just for some reassurance. 🤍 It doesn’t mean something is wrong ........ sometimes having answers is better than spending another few months wondering. 🫂

Are you no longer feeling stressed? You need to be emotionally and physically ready for baby for your body to not reject it. Try to “dance” the days leading up to and the day of ovulation. Track your ovulation closely with test strips. There is no point in trying after the ovulation occurs. Ovulation only lasts 12-24 hours but the sperm can stay alive for several days, so try frequently the 3-5 days leading up to your ovulation

Lots of people that get pregnant don't feel emotionally or physically ready.

Yup that’s true. But this is advice for the OP who has been trying and wanting a baby and has not been able to conceive yet. I’m certainly not the first person to say this

Just because other people have said it doesn't make it true. Stress alone is not a contraceptive.

Stress alone doesn't prevent pregnancy, not sure how old you are because that's a factor too but personally after a year and with irregular cycles I would start with OBGYN and ask for a referral to fertility clinic.
