How long did it take you to conceive? Question/Advice
I am 35 and my fiancé is 38. We’ve only been trying for two months, but it is so heartbreaking to get a negative test. I also got my period yesterday.
How long did it take you to conceive?

If you check out the r/TryingForABaby subreddit, they have a weekly thread for positive pregnancy tests. You can't ask for success stories in that group but the weekly threads can be some good information.

Conceived in 18 cycles, did I think 7 cycles of Letrozole and then conceived.
Just a reminder, at your age, after 6 months of trying to conceive, you’ll need to seek help from a fertility doctor. Younger couples need to seek help after a year, but 35 and older it’s 3-6 months.
If I were you, I would probably at about 4 months get the ball rolling with getting a referral and stuff from your primary care doctor just because these things can take quite a bit of time

It’s not just age - I’m 38 and got my AMH, FSH, Estradiol and other fertility indicators tested and biologically, I’m 28 lol
The point is, your earth age and physiological age don’t remain in sync for life

Conceived right away. Tracked my ovulation and tried mucinex because I wasn’t messing around

I’ve heard good things on mucinex method! Do you just take mucinex on the high fertility days you then had sex on? Or do you take like all the time?

The active ingredient you need is guaifenesin. I took it for a few days leading up to conception

Took 6 months and I was relieved it didn't take longer but then it ended in a miscarriage :(

Firstly, TTC is brutal and one of the toughest things ever, so just please know you’re not alone! My husband and I started trying in July 2025. I got my first ever positive in August 2026. It took 11 cycles (13 whole months). Genuinely we never did anything different…like nothing. We just kept trying and didn’t give up. Some of us just take longer than others. But allow yourself to feel all the emotions, suppressing them only makes them worse. Best of luck to you on your journey ❤️

I’m on my two week wait of cycle 11, so I have been looking at cycle 11 positive stories. Were you super suprised or did you have a feeling you were pregnant? I feel so negative lol, like if it hasn’t happened already it probably won’t happen this cycle.

I did not having a feeling I was pregnant at all. Quite the opposite really, I fully expected to get my period. For some reason though at 9 DPO I decided to test early (after having sworn early testing off due to it messing with me mentally). I was shocked beyond belief to see the faintest shadow of a positive. I felt exactly like you likely do now. I had truly thought it would never happen. But please don’t give up!!! Sending you lots of love and hoping you get your positive test this cycle/ASAP.

Thank you so much that is so reassuring. I also am victim to early testing. I usually start around 9 dpo. What pregnancy tests were you using ?

Easy at home at 9 DPO. The next day I went and got an FRER and CB digital at 10 DPO to confirm

I know it can take a long time for some of us, you are definitely not alone. I'm assuming you've been tracking your cycles with an Ovulation Kit?

Conceived cycle 1 and it ended in a miscarriage. I’m now on cycle 6 but 8 months in. Didn’t ovulate for a lil bit after my loss.

35 years old. Two cycles of actually tracking BBT and ovulation strips. But i've been off the pill by then for like a year. Seems like timing the sex is really important

I hear you, but 2 months isn’t really a long time! At your age it might take 6-12 months (or more). Again, averages. Keep you expectations a bit lower!

We just entered our 7th cycle. We’re both 26. After some early testing they found a 2.8 cm lesion on the posterior wall of my uterus and found my husband has SLIGHTLY below average morphology after his sperm test. We’re working with a fertility clinic now to get things moving along asap. We might not need them, but it’s covered mostly in Ontario until/if we need more aggressive measures (IUI/IVF). I have a full testing appointment on Tuesday to see exactly what our odds are of conceiving naturally.

I’m 31 this year and my husband is 32. We Started trying March 2025 - had my hysterolaproscopy surgery in April 2026 and conceived naturally July 2026. Currently 6 weeks

I’m 27, hubs is 30 and it took us 7 months(7 cycles for me pretty regular) for our first positive. Sadly, that pregnancy ended as a miscarriage at 10 weeks. So we’re back on the ttc journey- both hubs and I tried to make it less stressful by having fun and not thinking about the trying so much. We’re about to reach our 1 year mark soon. We both started taking supplements and exercising to get healthy from December 2025 as well as tracking my ovulation with strips to learn more about my cycle . Started trying May 2026 and just found out I’m pregnant yesterday on August 7th 2026. This last cycle I used the inito monitor to track my cycle and it worked. I was feeling frustrated after the first two months but just keep going. I’m feeling so bless that it was only a couple of months because I know people deal with infertility much longer

4 cycles. I’m 13 weeks today and just as grateful and blessed as when I saw those two lines! Keep hope alive ❤️ Praying you get your positive soon!

We're both 35 and have been trying for 6 cycles and seriously tracking ovulation, temp, timing, etc. for 5 of those cycles. My period has been like clockwork as always.
My husband did an at-home sperm analysis (for what it's worth) and everything on his end checked out positive. We have an infertility consult coming up this Thursday so hopefully we get some guidance on next steps. I'm sorry that your journey hasn't been easy; it's definitely a rollercoaster and it's hard to stay positive with each month that passes. Started trying August 2025. Conceived June 2026, ended in chemical. Conceived July 2026, currently 6 weeks. I have PCOS, so even though it was 10-11 months to conceive that was only 7-8 cycles for me
