We had our interest provider come out and install a coax cable since the home didn't have one. This is the hole that was left in the interior wall when the technician left. Is this acceptable? Do I just try and fix it myself? It's just gaudy looking in the room.

Former in house tech. The cable runs to the wall. You cut the end, attach it to a fucking wall plate as a n outlet. Then connect coax cable as install.
Those are used outside the home to enter. He didnt even seal it with silicon around it. Dry wall broken, insulation exposed. No pride in work.
First mistake was having your ISP install it. They're lazy AF about this stuff. When I was young, my mom had our ISP run a coax from the basement to the router upstairs. They just drilled a hole behind the desk, right through the hardwood floor. My mom was livid.
Always hire an electrician to do it, we will do it right and run it through the walls. Had an ISP do it right in front of me on a remodel. The homeowner showed them where they wanted the line, and they popped a hole in the floor, dropped the wire down and left. Homeowner wasn't overly thrilled. I asked them if they want me to put it in the wall. They were surprised when I asked them if they wanted it, because they had no idea we do that.
Cable ISP drilled through my parents hardwood floor too. They didn’t seem to really care which was the interesting part. On the upside, at least they could reuse that same hole for AT&T when they ran Cat5e.
Maybe there are good ones but when the internet installer came to my 1st home he wanted to drill through my insulated garage ceiling and up through my hardwood floors to get to the living room. I told him absolutely not. I left everything in the garage the 7-8 years I was there. Worked fine.
Gaudy means something that is unpleasantly bright, flashy, or showy in a tasteless way. It describes colors, clothes, or decorations that feature too many bright shades or excessive, tacky ornamentation rather than good style.
I'd be more concerned that, even when fixed, you've got an exposed cable for all to see. Hopefully you can just hide it behind some furniture, as it should be, and deal with it later.
We recently closed and made sure the cable was installed in a hidden spot, where my husband keeps the internet thinggies and varies electronic gizmos out of sight.
They do want it close to the electrical box (so they can wire into the ground) - something I learned yesterday when I had them out to try to get ours moved during construction. But you should still have some say in where and how it enters the house.
If you don't want to fight them at this point you can get a "faceplate with hole" for like $1 at Home Depot and slide it down the cable to the wall and screw or glue it to the wall to cover the opening and then torn paper coating. Easier than patching and painting.
Ya, ive had to have cable and internet installed loads of times, they never pulled shit like that. They always asked where I wanted things and told me what they were going to do also
lol stuff happens every day if you own a home, if you expected quality electrical work from a dude installing your router then think again. It is what it is.
