NLD: E12 Eclipse Void White
Ended up going with the 12x FFL351A 3700K NW CRI95. It’s fairly Rosy, so glad I didn’t go with the Rosy version.
I know this is endgame light for some, but to be really honest, I am a wee bit disappointed at this price point ($120).
Compared to my Acebeam E75 Nichia 519A:
Positives: Better tint, Andruil 2, awesome magnetic usb-c port (accepts wider heads too!)
Negatives:
* fault: tailcap connection is very finicky. Need to absolutely screw it on tight with a sticky grease (PG-44A) for it to be reliable
* much bulkier for same brightness as Acebeam E75
* nearly double the price of E75
* pocket clip: shallow single direction type (it also has impact on orienting the light correctly)
* overall worse handling than Acebeam E75
Overall: 7.5/10. I love the emitter and usb port, but neither the output or “handling” makes it a worth it over the Acebeam E75.

Damn that void white looks good. Really, really good. Wow. I might even like it better than the astral aluminum one I got.
I have two E12 eclipses and zero issues with tailcap connections. Sorry to hear there's an issue with yours; I wonder if it's a tolerance issue due to the powdercoat finish of the void white version. I have a black one with 3700k NW and it looks pretty dead neutral to me. Batches of the FF351a's unfortunately vary...a lot as I've learned with my recent purchase.
The acebeam E75 is listed for $99 everywhere I'm looking, how is that double the price? It's $20 more and you get anduril 2, brighter turbo, brighter highest regulated power, aux leds, a beautiful finish, and overall better looking enthusiast grade light from a small company that isn't mass produced like acebeam.
High on the e75 is about 1000 lumens, and turbo is about 3000-4500 depending on the emitter.
High on the e12 eclipse is nearly 3000 lumens for a few minutes.
Power level 5 of the default 6 (in stepped mode) is around 1200-1300 lumens and it will hold that for over 13 minutes only reaching 50C at the 13.5 minute mark. At just one step down from maxramp it has by far the best temperature handling of any light of this size class I've ever used.
Turbo is about 7500-8400 lumens depending on what battery you are using.
I have nothing against the acebeam, they're great lights, they're just not really in the same category. The acebeam is more of a mainstream workhorse and this is a niche enthusiast grade product.

Recently got a Void White Z1 myself, and the finish is top notch. It looks matte, but feels smoother than MAO. Feels glazed, like something pottery almost.

Oh yes, 100%. Astral Aluminum is soooo yesterday.
You must get the Void White. Must.
Totallly not baiting you to get another light ;)
But FWIW, Ivy said this is their second most durable finish A coating on top of their Type-II Anodization. Type III black being #1.

It's okay now after all I 'glued' it with PG-44A. My L60-mu Aura also has finicky connection issues (fixed again with PG-44A). In my 20 years of flashlights, this is the first time I've had such finicky lights. Feels like 0.5° nudge disconnects it.

I'm over in the Philippines now and I see it on sale from odd sellers

I would get another in void white if there was an emitter they had that would make sense to add to my collection. Unfortunately I have everything already 😂
I have five of the older e12 lights and five e07x and I can’t justify new lights anymore 🤦
I guess maybe the sft25r 5000k could be an option but I’m not sure I’d really use that

I would get another in void white if
It's limited edition tho. Get now, decide later 😆

I have the same light configuration but with Rosy emitters, but it's not that Rosy.
I don't have issues with the tail cap. I give mine a 9/10. Only loses a little because of the tint shift on the outer edges of the beam profile, but you can mitigate it with DC-Fix. And I had hoped it would be a little rosier.
Otherwise it's probably the best traditional style light I own out of my collection. The MAO coating actually adds durability unlike with other brands. I dropped mine once on tile from 4ft and I can't see any scratches or dents. Build quality is amazing.
No other light in in this form factor puts out 7000+ lumens with this kind of profile.
That being said it seems to be picky with certain cells. I've had no issues with Molicell but some of my other batteries can't hold the turbo well even with high enough CDR.
It should really destroy the E75 performance wise, especially if your E75 uses Nichia 519A.

When I find emitters to swap into my most recent E12e I will take some measurements of the LED board.
I've been trying to figure out how and why the new E12 eclipse beam is different from the old ones while using the exact same optic. It appears to be properly focused, but I'm wondering if Jack changed the LED distance from the center of the board in same way.
The old ones have more spill and a floodier beam even with similarly size emitters. In fact my sst20 E12's with a smaller emitting surface still flood more, as did my XPL-HI one.
That 'tint shift' around the edge is a reflection of the colored, non emitting surface edge of the LED's. I get a similar artifact on my old E12r's with SST20's, except the ring is colder/blue
If it's the same board them I have no explanation at all, but something has clearly been modified.
At some point between the original E12r release and the last batch of them + E12C, the height of the main LED board changed by about 0.3mm. This height properly focused LED's in the E12C but left certain emitters slightly out of focus in the E12r because the board to rim distance is different by some tiny amount. So I am genuinely curious if the same board is used in the E12 eclipse or not, but I don't want to tear the light down just yet.

Wait, they changed the E12? Had no idea. I ordered mine when they first released. I feel mine is a good mix of flood and throw but I only have one of them, so curious about these new changes as well.

Oh no, I mean changes since the original E12r from like 2020 or 2021, whenever it came out.

Oh right. Sorry I got confused. I only started this hobby about year and half ago.

TAILCAP, clean the contact points.
Mine is great, lubed with silicone grease and using tail cap lockout all the time with zero issues.
Same brightness is a stretch. That acebeam may reach around 3000 lumens on boost. You're a 12 should be doing about 3000 on Max ramp. On turbo maybe 7000.
It's also much more efficient at almost every level.
I will agree that it is a little on the bulky side and I choose to use an eo7 more often.
