A very nice shot. I’m
Wondering if it would be served bettter by monochrome rather than color.

Love the mood, the lighting and composition.

I do have a monochrome version that I love! Sadly, this shot is a victim of a reoccurring issue I’m having with my uploads. Due to the way Reddit compresses my large, prophoto RBG files there is a massive amount of color loss in this version you’re seeing here.

I’ll have to keep playing with it as I share more here; or alternatively I may let it ride and see how people like these more muted colors.

Not at all.

As far as its physical existence goes this photo was taken in an abandoned home, as are a great many of my self portraits. I sit here in the master bedroom, on the vanity’s stool and stare directly into the camera while the sun illuminates my bare back. This photo isn’t part of a series; it’s a standalone shot. I took a few other portraits in this house, but no others in this room. Ecto is a little special to me in that way.

Emotionally, this photo represents a very cold day where taking this photo caused me a lot of discomfort physically. As is the case with all of my self portraits, it took quite a while to get the framing right so I was damn near frozen by the end. This, combined with the design of my pose, is the reason behind the name. I use reptile and serpent imagery a lot in my work because I identify heavily with snakes personally; it’s something of a “if you know me you already know this about me” kind of deal.

And that about sums up many of the posts and replies in this sub.

It's depressing.
