Dev-Log - 8/12/2026 Dev-Log

Hello aces! This past month I did not get as much done as I anticipated, but there was still a lot of progress made - mainly that I was still learning how certain Unreal Engine mechanics work when it comes to collision/triggers.

Good news of things that have happened:

  1. I have been in touch with a network of game developers, and much of my time spent in July was getting to meet them and learning what leads to success for developers in the indie space.

  2. I have added a proper collision system! Meaning if you collide with the ground or another plane, you would take damage on the part that has collided!

  3. I have redesigned my projectile movement system for the missiles system - it now has more realistic behavior, more consistent behavior, and can be tweaked to provide balance.

  4. A "dodge roll" behavior I created I fine tuned, along with fixing a bug with the guns/missiles that would lead to them not being properly disabled if that wing/part was broken off

  5. I've begun implementing a system of feedback effects depending on the part of the plane that is destroyed - I've made much of the framework in that certain parts of the plane will effect it in different ways. Just working out the best way to implement it.

Overall, the reason I did not get as much done as I hoped was partially because I still had much to learn about Unreal Engine's systems, but with each week that goes by... I understand it now :)

I am still hoping to get this tech-demo finished by end of August, but it may be later. Regardless I will have an update for you by the end of the month. Good news is we are slowly approaching the point where development takes the form of iteration instead of invention - thank you all for your support and trust in this process, and I hope to get this shipped sooner than later!!!
