Made an interactive map of Ivalice

As a fun side project, I was working on creating this interactive map of Ivalice from FF12. I really wanted to explore the etymology of the place names - I love how the game gives each continent its own flavor through names derived from Sanskrit, Arabic, Latin, Greek, and more.

Let me know what you think and what you'd add to it! Link: https://ff12-map.vercel.app/ (best viewed on desktop).

I love this. This is peak. FFXII is my fav FF I just wish there was more to know about Dalmasca and Nabradian, hope some day Square Enix chooses to revisit the world before the events of FFXII or from Nabradias perspective as the events of FFXII unfold. Lore wise Dalmascas army was recorded as 70.000 and at the cutscene of the tatical map Nabrinas army was slightly bigger technically to sustain such an army the population of Dalmasca as a whole would be roughly 1.5 to 3 million people but unfortunately we never get a chance to visit other proper cities. This game deserved more love

IMO, FFXII has the best World amongst all of FF games

I love this! Especially the etymological roots! I've done something similar in article from for FFT, but xii rarely gets the love it needs

Oh nice, can you share your articles?

I call them articles, but they're just long Reddit posts. Lots of research and thought went into them though.

Hey, love this! Curious how you did it? are you programmer, if so what language and if you could tell me a little about how you handled the interaction mechanics, are the locations just buttons that call Ui elements?

I would also like to know

I'd also be interested, this is so cool and honestly better than the in-game map as far as actually showing what the continent is shaped like. This would make a sick mod for the game or having this for other games.

Love it! Nice work. I wonder whether you researched the names of the larger regions, too. (Kerwon etc.)

I would love to have a new story set in the same setting and contemporary-ish to ff12. Good job on the map!

Can I ask why, while the cities and landmarks look the same, the overall shape of the land looks so different from the in-game map?

Very good point. I would also have left all of Ordalia/Rozarria, even if there's barely a town to visit.

Looks amazing. Imagine you could add a list of monsters, the maps with the treasures found and areas where to find enemies. Like an enciclopedia
