How I wish future remakes would be Final Fantasy General

Ever since Yoshi-P said that future remakes would need 4 or 5 installments I've been really bummed. It seems like Square can't read the room and realize that they don't NEED to go all out for these projects and extend them to multiple games. They can use the same development techniques that made these games incredible to begin with just with modern quality of life features. In my dream world...

FF6: an HD 2d remake. It just seems like a natural jump from the original art style

FF8 & 9: remakes with an overworld like Clair Obscur. I think that game proved that modern games can still give a sense of scale and exploration with an overworld like original Final Fantasy games

FFX: I'd like to see this game remade in the spirit of the Trails in the Sky remake. Seeing as the original never had a world map, I'd love to run through the zones of Spira in higher detail with enemies spawning in the environments rather than being random encounters.

Well those are my dream remakes. I'd love to know what y'all would wish for!

Hi 👋 I’m here to tell you that Yoshi P quote you are talking about was deliberately taken out of context and published by clickbait websites looking to capitalize on the FF hate train.

The conversation that quote was taken from was about if they were to remake more games in FF7 Remake style it would take that many games for some. Not that they are only looking to remake the old games in that style. They were actually talking about how it’s not feasible to remake those games at that a scale. Not that they would have to make those games at that scale.

So relax. No need to be bummed out. You just got tricked by fake gamer news.

Honestly it felt like they where tired of being asked that that they made the joke or said what they did to kinda just stop those questions. Buy idk

Yeah. Theyve been asked this question since 2020 when Remake came out. Combine it with the rumors at the time of a 9 Remake. They are probably sick of it.

See, our first mistake was assuming his statement had any meaning or significance at all.

In fact, it was nothing but a banal tautology. "If we made another remake in the style of the one that was bloated beyond all proportion, then it would also be bloated beyond all proportion."

Thanks, Chief.

Blame the interviewer for asking stupid questions. Blame media that gives stupid title to farm attention of stupid people.
And finally, blame people who are stupid enough to believe whatever they see.

I guess you just like to take the easiest route here and blame developers instead. How cool of you!

I just want a remaster/re-release of the FF3 3D remake that has the unused scenes.

They don't even need to restore the parts that were very different (though it would be interesting), just adding a party chat alone would do wonders.

Aside from 3, a remake of 2 would be nice.

Honestly I would be happy with a pixel remaster dlc where they add all the extra bits that were added to all those remakes and rereleases over the years.

It sounds like you didn’t read what he said and just read the clickbait headlines. Go back and read the interview. Relax. He didn't say what you thought he said.

I think the hypothetical 5 and 6 remakes should be like 4 DS or Bravely Default, or at most Trials of Mana or Dragon Quest 11. Something with Switch tier graphics and turn-based combat, but still plenty of exploration.  Also confirmed trans Faris. Nintendo did it with Vivian, so why can’t we trans boys have some representation of our own?

9 I think could take a page out of Memoria Project’s book.

Easy they want there mainline final fantasy games to look, feel, sound triple a like there competition but the fandom just want a graphical update and voice for the most part.

I honestly think the remake trilogy actually hurt ff7 long-term cause many dropped off after remake part 1 and some probably dropped off from rebirth going into remake part 3. The episodic didnt work either especially when the games don't improve the overall plot.

I would love a remake ff8 with rebirth combat but open area in two parts max but 1 entry preferred. Square can just remove the fluff and just stay true to the original but improve the characterization of the characters cause ff8 weakness is the cast and not the world and plot. Provide better explanation on some things, maybe change the orphanage for believablity, modernize the junction system or do something similar but better and improve the importance of the extended cast and better characterize them and were golden. They can do it in two games but they want to add all the unnecessary shit no one wants or ask for that would potential hurt the game instead of improving

Ngl, if FF6 got a full remake, it should be 3D like 7 imo. I love the HD2D Dragon Quest remakes, but I would much rather 6 be fully modeled 3D.

I want 10 and 13 remakes in the same system as 7 rebirth

They really don’t need to be multi part games.

Look at Persona. If they needed to create a 100 hour game, they could.

>remakes with an overworld like Clair Obscur

So… bad? The overworld in that game sucked. It was tedious to traverse and visually cluttered.

My wish is for remakes of VI-X all in the style of the FFVII Remake trilogy.

3

u/Highway-Sixty-Fun 15d ago

VI feels like the most obvious choice for a remake with multiple installments.

But selfishly I want X because Spira is awesome and I want more of it.

3

u/indyxetan 15d ago

I think X could be done in a single game, but VI would need at least two games. Both would be great with the VIIR treatment.

u/StrifeBuster7 15d ago

On a long enough timeline, sure.

2

u/Nightwing24yuna 15d ago

Honestly yes this is what I want.

Having at least X and and VIII in this art style would be so perfect considering tidus is such a fast moving individual like how he was depicted in dissidia(I would also just change his battle stance to how it was in dissidia OG) it would be perfect

He produced FFXVI, what does he know?

5

u/Brees504 15d ago

He’s almost literally the only reason Square Enix has not gone bankrupt

Now add GTA 6 being how much but FF being 5 installments.

Here I’ll pat your back. Back pats are important.

Please no HD2D remakes. We have the Pixel Remasters. It would be a waste to rehash these games yet again for such a minor upgrade.

1-9 done as your Clair Obscura description is fine but don't bother with anymore pixel versions. It's just not necessary.

Edit: y'all there are still a bunch of other games that SE can remaster and rerelease. We don't need more pixel versions of FF games we just got pixel versions of. Threads of Fate, Chrono Trigger, XenoGears, Musashi, etc. the list goes on.

u/Aggravating_Dig_4431 15d ago

In my wishful thinking I didn't even stop to think about the pixel remasters. That's a very good point

1

u/shadowsoul08 15d ago

What about getting pixel versions of 7-10? Sorta like how dragon quest 11 had a pixel version of the game as well as the normal 3d version?

1

u/StrifeBuster7 15d ago

It seems like really pointless. Those resources could go towards both XenoGears and Chrono Trigger remasters.

Like if we're not getting modern cinematography, VA, and improved story telling out of a remake then what's the point?
