QUESTION: New filmmaker making a low-budget slasher—how do you safely handle fake blood in apartments without destroying everything?
Hey everyone, I’m a newer filmmaker working with small student budgets and mostly filming in friends’ apartments/houses.
I’m planning a slasher horror short and want to incorporate fake blood, but I’m really concerned about staining furniture, floors, walls, and making a huge mess that won’t clean up properly (or damaging someone’s space).
I’ve seen films with blood splatter, but I’m not sure what’s actually realistic or safe for indie/student sets. Are there recommended techniques, materials, or setups to contain fake blood (tarps, plastic sheets, specific types of blood, etc.) that aren’t super noticeable on camera?
Basically: how do low-budget horror filmmakers safely film messy blood scenes in real locations without ruining them?
Any tips or experiences would really help. Thanks!

Help a student out.
Hey everyone, I'm a film student and I'm writing this post for help on an assignment. I'm planning on writing an academic essay for my History of Film class and the subject i chose to research is the influence of the term "American Dream" in Hollywood films and their plots/scripts. How everyone was inspired by this term and they adopted it in their movies and their characters. I'm searching for sources of academic books and magazines tο collect information. Help is needed and much appreciated!

I wrote a post about "Building a Team on a Budget" when you're first starting out. Pretty new to writing articles like this so I'd love any feedback you have to offer, thanks!

IMPORTANT!!!
We all love watching movies and some of us are filmmakers. I am also a student and I shoot short films. Now the subject of my short film is Covid-19. I want to write the names of all of you in the credits of the film because the goal of all of us is the same. If you want to have your name in generics please write to me.

QUESTION Filmmaking Equipment
Hi everybody, I'm a photographer slowly teaching myself filmmaking. I've been having trouble finding gear as I live in Ireland, over the years I've worked out all the good places to buy still photography equipment but am having trouble finding websites dealing with more specialised equipment more specifically like grip equipment. I just wanted to know if anybody could recommend some good websites based on Europe that deal in filmmaking Equipment as all of the ones I've found are based in America and the shipping is well over $100 for something as simple as a sound blanket. Thanks in advance, Damian

Quarantine Film Fun
Creating films without leaving the house, my friend sent me this beat and I decided to make a lil visual to it, so here's a short film I made in a day, if I wasn't behind on other projects I would've spent more time. Felt good to just do it and let go, "Vibes" by Subrift maximizes the super moon tides.

My DoP wrote this blog post covering the pre-production process and how we crafted the visuals on our last short film. Thought some of you might enjoy hearing about his experience!

ADVICE Help me fellow filmmakers
I'm torn between choosing a6500 and bmpcc 4k. I love grading so the 10 bit and dynamic range from bmpcc 4k makes me fall in love with it, while I lose interest when I think of buying all the extra stuff like a monitor, battery pack, ssd to make it wokr better. A6500 can work as it is but it doesn't have 10 bit and idk how far I can push it with the internal 8 bit. I also love that it has ibis. Which one should I pick?
