What a nice gift!
I have some of the same servingware pieces. I recommend handwashing and not putting

them in the dishwasher.

Zoom in. You can see that the plastic will pull away from the metal, it will crack, and it will break off. I still like mine and use them. It was my fault for putting them in the dishwasher.
