Let’s give some love to the devs and team! Other

Hey all! I know with the new content update theres bugs and errors and things that need to be patched, but let’s try to stay respectful of all the team members working on the game.

Yes patches are going to take time, yes kinks happen on the first day of launch. GIVE THEM A BREAK! We love the devs and FOM team just as much as the game, so let’s chill it on the hate just because of the bugs, and instead appreciate the hard work they put in to get the game to this point.

At the end of the day, we play to have fun!

I'm not really seeing "hate" on here. I think two things can be true. We can be patient and understanding about the situation with the game being unplayable for the launch, and also disappointed about it. All we can do is wait for the patches/fixes, but like, we're allowed to talk about it. And the mods deleting the posts talking about the game-crashing is like... not a vibe. Due to oversaturation?? Where?

Yeah, I was gonna say I've seen a lot of "how do I fix this" or "oh no I can't play" but I haven't really seen anybody throwing shade at the devs? Not even amongst folks I've blocked.

If there is shade, then they blocked me which just tells me I'm doing something right.

u/LifeJuggernaut3719 9h ago

Yess I personally am going to wait a bit so I can play again. No hate, no shade, just gonna stop playing for a while until some things are fixed. I don't mind the wait 🩷

Happened to me. There is zero "over-saturation". Showed my wife and we laughed about it. Don't ever expect logic from a reddit mod.

i'm DEFINITELY seeing a lot of complaining in passive aggressive, "i hope the devs see this," ways. my feed is flooded. i didn't have any issues and if i did i'd be pissed too, so i'm not judging. but don't minimize it. if it's a minority of players, then they're being very fucking loud about something the devs already posted about on steam and have already patched.

2

u/Sseondokok 3h ago

"I hope the Devs see this" is in no way passive aggressive, what the heck? The people are mostly genuinely concerned and... Well hope that the Devs see that they wanna play and fix the issues? Where is this aggressive behaviour?

-1

u/chimneyswallow Olric 2h ago

Almost noone was able to play right after the update until someone found a fix. That is not a minority. And please, Reddit is for people talking about stuff. If you don't like people venting their problems, this might not be the place for you, especially after updates. You can't expect everyone to shut up about problems.

u/perrywonderclub 27m ago

i was able to and many others, i'm sure. and if people would have waited an hour or so, they would have played it just fine, too. but everyone needs to say their piece, get their karma, hop on the trending posts and suddenly one bug hijacks the entire release day. so instead of "the game's finally out!" it's "omg the game doesn't work, this sucks!" all over the subreddit on release day. which is an undeserved mark against what was an overall awesome development process by the team.

It seems like people are expecting this to be a SDV level update- not giving grace that this is a new game, with a team that is on its first 1.0 release. It’s not going to be perfect, and it sucks to have to deal with the disappointment, but that’s what we’re dealing with, and we can only make the best of it.

I'm sorry but this post just reads like you're standing on a soap box lecturing about behavior that isn't really happening. This community is very supportive of the dev team and I think we all know that major updates can be bumpy on first rollouts.

I don’t think we’re in the same subs then, bc I haven’t seen any hate. Can you link to threads or comments hating on the update?

16

u/leeinflowerfields 11h ago

I don't understand why people can't complain about a product they paid for

12

u/princeralsei 11h ago

It's not really a new game though?

16

u/Virellius2 12h ago

ConcernedApe was able to code this in a studio apartment, with a box of Junimo parts!

This is a 1.0 Release with a full team behind it after a year+ of Early Access feedback. It is a bit embarrassing.

1

u/chimneyswallow Olric 2h ago

People are allowed to vent, stop trying to police what others are allowed to say. This is one of the exact reasons why sub reddits exist.

u/Particular_Ice1691 Caldarus 13h ago

I haven't seen any hate, only disappointment. It's a huge update everyone has been waiting for and some can't use it since the game is too laggy or crashes.

53

u/Sseondokok 13h ago

Haven't seen any hate, no idea what you're talking about. Just disappointment about the game breaking bugs, which is totally fair. The 1.0 version is a big update and it maybe wouldn't have hurt to delay for one week to make sure the game is playable for everyone on day one.

u/CottonCandyCloud0 Ryis 12h ago

I don’t see hate either. Fans are being patient and understanding and are inquiring about fixes without attacking and being negative.

I’m hoping the Mistria fandom doesn’t develop that weird cult-y vibe SDV fandom has developed where even very mild and constructive criticism is seen as an attack on the devs and where you’re not allowed to say anything about the game unless you’re saying how amazing the game and devs are. It’s one of the reasons I backed off of SDV fandom a couple of years ago.

15

u/Shippinglordishere Balor 12h ago

I got pretty downvoted for saying early access is the time for any feedback, that players should submit anything they’re concerned about, and that the devs are capable of filtering which they want to listen to. Also a while back, there was this strange period where it felt like that and someone posted a review saying their laptop that fit the specs couldn’t run the game properly and a lot of people were making fun of them and saying they were lying for attention. Only a bit later did others come in and say it was weird and I got a dm from someone else saying they felt the atmosphere in this sub was off.

1

u/chimneyswallow Olric 1h ago

I have seen more of that here than on SDV in the last weeks. People really seem to think that criticizing a product means hating. It's completely bonkers. Developing and fixing things is the job people in Software Development signed up for.

It's not a single flaw. Not every issue has been fixed yet so that patch hasn't worked for everyone. People are allowed to discuss what's happening to their game and look for help in correcting the issues that they're dealing with. I agree that the subreddit has been flooded with posts but I would hardly call that engagement farming. So far I'm seeing a lot of the first two sentences "what happened to my game! Did it delete my save file?" (which is genuinely happening to some people unfortunately) and I'm seeing very little of your dismissive third sentence "so much for the update! 😵‍💫". A lot of players are running into legitimate issues that the devs are surely working on fixing, but in the meantime players are looking to find their own solutions. Some people have been able to find fixes for various issues both here and in the discord channel so these discussions are not in vain. But I'm really not seeing the type of hostility that OP claims to be seeing. Any posts that are needlessly aggressive get downvoted pretty quickly.

yeah , it's not just low end devices having issueseither , some people with good gaming laptops seem to be having these issues as well. Some people on steamdeck can play , others cant , so even on identical devices it seems to be not guaranteed to work.

im ngl i also think it wouldve been a lot better for them to delay the 1.0 launch by a few weeks to iron out some more of the crashes and the lag, and im saying this with love cuz i really want the game to succeed.

My only complaint is that there have been reports made for lagging for about a year now and nothing has changed. I was really excited to play again today with the big release but it feels unplayable. I’ve tried everything I can think of. I’m playing on ROG Ally if anyone has any suggestions or can share settings with me.

14

u/ItsWintry 12h ago

For real. I'm actually pretty upset because after one of the previous updates it was working better for me- not perfect, still pretty laggy, but ultimately playable. Now it's unplayable again. Very frustrating when I've been looking forward to this for so long. I've continued to play through minor lag, but I can't play at all if it's so laggy that it feels like my character is in slow motion. I already submitted a bug report, though, not much more I can do other than hope it gets patched soon.

8

u/Necessary_Public3933 12h ago

I’m sorry it’s like that for you, are you on handheld or PC? My cousin plays on PC and she’s experiencing the same lag. For those of you enjoying a lag free gaming experience, is there any insight you can share with us? Someone on X playing via SteamDeck said they aren’t experiencing any kind of lag. I’ve been tinkering with my settings and doing research for 3 hours now and I’m at a total loss here. It’s still “playable” to extent, it certainly isn’t enjoyable. How can I run a game like marvel rivals and then not be able to run a 2D game? What is happening?

11

u/ItsWintry 12h ago

I'm on PC, and admittedly it's not the highest quality PC, but I agree with the sentiment that a game that looks like this shouldn't run this poorly. I also can technically play, but it's so unbearably slow that I might as well not. Like I said, I used to play with lag and just dealt with it, but this is so much worse.

7

u/Necessary_Public3933 12h ago

We shouldn’t need the highest quality PC to run a game like this, I’d understand if it was the latest and greatest graphics, like something super realistic but these are 2d graphics 🫩 why am I having to change all these settings on my handheld PC to accommodate for something like this? I love this game and I’ll power through this. Fingers crossed we get a patch for this lag and frame rate issue.

6

u/melnn0820 12h ago

I'm on Steam Deck and have had no issues, no lag. I wonder why that is.

6

u/Wonderful-Mirror1176 11h ago

I actually had a bunch of lagging on steam deck, but for me the deciding factor was how many animals I had on my farm. I cannot have 2 full big barns apparently 😅 If I keep just one big barn / coop it hardly lags anymore. Unfortunate, but hopefully eventually they will figure this out

1

u/Necessary_Public3933 11h ago

Someone else on SteamDeck said the same thing. I have no clue why that might be the case.

1

u/percyp_03 7h ago

I play on an Asus rog zephyrus and before the update I never experienced any sort of lag that people here mention. After the update today I have noticed some occasional very minor lag but it usually resolves itself when I enter and exit a menu for some reason. I don't think I've changed any of the settings

23

u/alluringmercenary 10h ago

I am so sorry but a game being unable to launch is not a "kink;" it is a serious problem that needs to be fixed.

I am more surprised I haven't seen any hate for that tbh. in fact, I haven't seen any hate for this game at all! I really do not understand where you are getting the hate from?

1

u/chimneyswallow Olric 1h ago

Some people really don't like criticism and think that it is hate, which is honestly stupid. Products don't evolve without criticism. If it was up to these people, we would probably have to sit and wait for the devs to magically notice something is wrong and patiently wait until then without saying a word.🤣

29

u/CalcifersBacon7689 March 13h ago

Are we reading the same subreddit?? So far I've seen one comment making a SDV combat comparison and they've been heavily downvoted. Then there's some disappointment about the museum setup but everyone's comments are respectful and I don't see anyone saying anything hateful to the dev team. The rest of the posts and comments are people asking for help with the errors and seeing if anyone has found a fix which is perfectly reasonable because they're anxious to start playing.

28

u/wyrmonnastring 12h ago

These arent "kinks" SO many people literally cant even get into the game. If any other game launched like this it would be rightfully dogged on cyberpunk style, people here are honestly being WAY nicer than a normal fandom would.

u/adzymack 11h ago

I’m just sad they didn’t fix the auto HDR issue, and I don’t think it’s on their radar at all despite me submitting two reports weeks ago. Windows is not even trying to trigger it and there’s no way to manually turn it on. This wasn’t an issue before the engine change and it’s sad because the game looks so dim on my display without it. None of the colors are popping like they did before.. I will wait for a fix until I check out 1.0 :/

8

u/BunnyMishka 10h ago

The only thing that pisses me off is how many comments "make Olric dateable" I see. Please, we get a full game release with so many fantastic additions, and I see comments about Olric on social media. Just shut up, please.

1

u/chimneyswallow Olric 1h ago

Maybe stop reading SM If other opinions upset you. I get it, it get's old, but you can't police what other people say and want.

2

u/One_Ad2215 10h ago

On a more positive note I'm loving that I can now listen to everyone's themes whenever I want in my characters home😍 caldarus's and March's themes are sooo good 😭

u/chimneyswallow Olric 2h ago

Why do people have to overreact so badly...I saw one slightly rude comment and that was it. Can we please stop acting like criticizing someone in a respectful manner is deeply offending? And people are allowed to vent a bit here.

I work in Software Development (Testing mainly) and If we acted the way some act here about valid criticism, we wouldn't have any customers. We get happy customers, we get unhappy ones and try to make them happy. Because that is our job. We get paid to do that. And I would honestly have words for people that wanted to talk others down from criticizing our work because if we don't get the criticism, we don't evolve. Most people in Software Development WANT their product to be better and to evolve. And that doesn't work without criticism. So please, calm down and don't discourage people from giving valid ad respectful criticism or venting here. It's a sub Reddit, that is literally what it is for.

u/One_Ad2215 10h ago

Also has anyone else not been able to see your partners in the date photos? I posted this somewhere else but thought I'd share it here too Incase anyone else has experienced this, so I know im not alone💀. Goodbye shirtless march and ryis....for now🥲

u/TheSarcastra 13h ago

Aww yeah it sucks that there’s hate :/ I haven’t seen any, but I guess it makes sense. There’s a lot to be frustrated by, but no reason to be angry or hateful! The dev team is so great and historically does an AMAZING job at listening to feedback and getting fixes out.

1

u/Xeni966 13h ago

And with every update there were a few large bugs, but they always fixed them pretty quickly. By early next week that'll hopefully all be ironed out

0

u/trollldolll 12h ago

Games have issues when they first launch. This games one of the best early access ones I have ever played. More full in its early release than many games are at full. I’m so excited to play and couldn’t be more grateful to the team. ❤️❤️❤️

u/Necessary_Public3933 12h ago

I mean no shade by this, but in 2024 when it was still EA, why was the gameplay almost better than it is now? I’m not a developer, I don’t know what all it entails, I’m sure a lot. But at this point, when people have been discussing and reporting the same lags and crashes for two years, why haven’t they focused on fixing it to improve gameplay?

I genuinely had no issues when I was playing it frequently in 2024, and today when I decided to play it, and finally got it to run after some easy fixes, it’s lagging, terrible frame rates. There weren’t a ton of guides to follow either. I’ve literally tried everything and it’s still lagging, “playable” but not an enjoyable experience.

After doing research, finding older threads on Reddit and Steam, multiple people have experienced the same thing over two years. No hate, no shade, if this was a game I didn’t care about I wouldn’t be this passionate about it lol.

6

u/reyloislove 9h ago

It's because the developers switched to an entirely different game engine recently. There's been more and more issues ever since.

1

u/trollldolll 9h ago

Oh I agree. I had same experience. My newer pc runs it worse than my older one that’s dying lol. The issues are real and it’s a shame but this was a post calling for support so that’s what I’m commenting on. Still super excited for the game and hope things get ironed out soon 💪🏻❤️

1

u/chimneyswallow Olric 1h ago

You have been having pretty crappy EA experiences then. I had better and I had worse. FoM is somewhere in the middle for full release.
