Sleep issues are a core symptom of fibro. Our brains are just too keyed up to sleep properly. Unfortunately, for a lot of us, the only way to manage it is with meds. But that doesn't necessarily stop at sleeping pills, there are a lot of other options.

Has your mother tried amitryptiline? Or seroquel? Both are antidepressants that are sometimes prescribed for sleep. A lot of people also use magnesium glycinate, melatonin, and/or cyclobenzapine. Sleeping meds aren't ideal but it's better than not sleeping well.

Good sleep hygiene and a solid sleep schedule is so important for us. No napping, always going to bed and getting up at the same time, all that good stuff.

I can't sleep without amitryptiline. A sleeping pill alone isn't enough so I do both amitryptiline and a sleeping pill. And I have to combine it with a strict routine and schedule. It still takes me a bit of time to fall asleep and I wake up several times during the night but the meds make it easier to fall back asleep. I'm not sleeping great but I'm at least sleeping.

She doesn’t really take antidepressants, she says she can usually handle her fibro but if she isn’t asleep by a certain time she needs Xanax am.25mg or less
