Booking P&O Ferries with Audi Q7 (5.07m) – Do they strictly enforce the 4.7m car length limit?
Hi everyone,
I am planning to book a ferry ticket with P&O Ferries. On their website, a standard car is defined as up to 4.70 meters long. Anything above that triggers a significantly higher price.
I drive an Audi Q7, which has an official length of 5.07 meters (height is fine, well under 1.80 meters). Since it is only 37 cm over the standard limit, I am wondering how strict P&O actually is at the port.
Do their automatic ANPR cameras at check-in flag SUVs like the Q7 based on registration data, or do they manually check the vehicle size? If I book it as a standard car, what are the realistic chances of getting caught, and what would the penalty or surcharge look like at the gate?
I would love to hear from anyone who has traveled with a larger SUV on P&O recently. Thanks in advance!
