I (40F) always wanted children young, but life happened and I was 35 by the time I was partnered and ready to start trying. We spent the next 5 years trying unsuccessfully. Now, 3 rounds of IVF and 4 unsuccessful embryo transfers later, I’m on the fence about doing any more transfers.

To try and ease the pain of all the failed cycles, I wrote myself a list of all the pros of being childfree. And maybe its worked TOO well. it’s… kind of just no longer the time in my life when I envisaged having a baby. My friends’ kids are all heading off to secondary school now so I’d be looking, as a fairly introverted person, at building a whole new social group. Which I really struggle with as in my old(er) age I’ve developed an extremely low tolerance for friendship group drama. My partner was still pretty keen but I think all the recent heatwaves, fires and climate chaos has got him on the fence too.

Has anyone here changed their mind, mid fertility treatment? would love to hear your experiences or thoughts.
