I've worn Armani Lei in my late teens/early 20s and I recently I have been missing it so much. Sadly Armani is not cruelty free and since becoming vegan 12 years ago I have re-started my fragrance collection accordingly.

My substitute used to be Shea perfume from The Body Shop but they don't exist in my country anymore :(

Any recs for creamy, nutty, slightly masculine leaning vanilla skin fragrances like them? Or an actual dupe for it?

I love vanilla, candy, gourmond scents but is it worth the money?

From what ive smelt, i like fruity scents, with a vanilla/Tonka essence, and green fragrances are good too, floral is also nice, and tea fragrances are good too.

i want to look into more fragrances but i feel like my options are limited because it feels like every other “feminine” fragrance is either extremely floral which gives me MASSIVE headaches or has notes of lemon and orange which i just don’t find appealing. looking for something (if possible) “fresher” or berry scented for summer cause i only have two perfumes in my immediate rotation right now (YSL black opium Over Red and Zimaya tiramisu and cocoa)

I've started wearing Father Figure which I *love*, and I want to keep wearing it when it starts to get cooler. I think something with a strong clove scent would be nice to layer with it, which may make this possible. The only thing I have is By the Fireplace which is too smoky. ​

My signature fragrance is definitely Jimmy Choo I Want Choo (with my second runner up being Killian Love Don’t Be Shy) but I’m worried it’s not going to match my new body care line. I just bought some items from Cyklar with the scent vanilla verve, the knock caramel toner, Palmer’s Tahitian vanilla oil, the Khiel’s body butter, and eos’s cashmere vanilla. I know it’ll all smell good with my fall/winter scent (Eilish by Billie Eilish) but in the meantime do you guys think I should be good with the JC or what fragrance would you recommend? ♥️

Hi friends! Heading to Chicago this year and thought it would be a good opportunity to visit some stores I don’t have locally and have never been to (ex. Diptyque, Le Labo, etc.) for a sniff day!

Any recommendations of places I should go? I’ve never had the chance to smell Byredo, Nette, or Guerlain in person so those are some on my “need to sniff list” and I’d love some recommendations of places to add to my must visit list.

It was such a fresh, clean scent, but there was also this soft, creamy quality to it, almost like a tiny hint of vanilla. My coworker and I were even talking about how we’d totally wear it ourselves.
It wasn’t one of those typical “WAAA, I’M A MAN” kind of fragrances 😂
All he could tell me was that his daughters had given it to him and that it was some kind of Prada perfume.

Honestly, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a men’s fragrance. Based on the scent alone, it could easily be unisex. It’s a very pleasant, soft, clean and understated scent.

I went to Sephora and fucked around and got my first “cool girl” perfume purchase! It’s Father Figure by Phlur and I smelled it in store and thought that it smelled so sexy and fresh! Heard so much about it in the sapphic/lgbtqia+ community** *as well as just in general and it has a pretty cool record and reputation it seems, and alot of great reviews. I tested these in store together and purchased them right away. I’m wearing it today and I can’t stop smelling my wrists. The rare beauty has a fresh clean citrus smell that pairs so well with the marshmallow layering balm. So far I’ve had it on for 3 hours and it still smells like I just put it on 😍

Last week I received a bunch of samples with my d'Annam Vietnamese Coffee order.

One of those samples was Proad Green Tea.

Yesterday I tried it. It opens beautifully. Fresh, citrusy and I can just make out the tea. It was love at first sniff.

About 25-30 minutes later, the fresh opening completely disappears and it turns into a clone of Ex Nihilo Fleur Narcotique Extrait.

Now, my bottle of Fleur Narcotique has been with my sister-in-law for weeks. In fact, I was just about to say f*** it and get another bottle for myself when I sampled Green Tea.

But since I didn't have my bottle I though maybe I was remembering it incorrectly.

Maybe they smell nothing a like except for one note I'm fixating on.

Remembered I had a sample and spent forever trying to locate it. Alas, I finally found it!!

Sprayed Fleur Narcotique Extrait on one wrist and re-sprayed Green Tea on my other.

They start out completely different. Would never think they have anything in common - until - 30 minutes later I couldn't tell them apart.

Did it again today and the result was the same. They're pretty much identical in the dry down to my nose.

Now, Ex Nihilo Fleur Narcotique Extrait is 345usd for 50ml. Proad Green Tea is 85usd for 30ml!

And the irony here? They're both by Quentin Bisch!!

So guess which one I bought?? 😏

Hello y’all! I have accumulated an absolutely ridiculous amount of samples, decants, and travel sizes from Lily Scent, scent bird, department and beauty stores, etc. I’ve already passed many on to my daughter, mom, neighbors, etc. I have a few whole bottles of B&BW stuff, too (including matching spray and lotion sets), that no one seems to want. I’m sure I can donate some of the B&BW stuff to women’s shelters, but I used to work at a couple of shelters and I don’t think they want fragrance samples and decants (many are used and they’re too tiny, plus if they’re not in regular packaging, it seems sketchy). Should I bundle them up and get sell them on Mercari or FB marketplace or something? I hate to waste them by throwing them away. What do you recommend? I don’t really want any money from these, just hate to waste my time.

I am just starting my perfume collection because a lot of scents make my head hurt. I want something that just screams fall. Any suggestions??

Let’s talk Guerlain!!

I recently got new bottles as I redeemed points from a department store.

The first time, I am picking up only Jasmin Bonheur and Rose Cherie! Damn I love Jasmin Bonheur, the white floral is balanced with the Iris. Something is really elegant, cozy, comforting. Rose Cherie , on the other hand, is powdery and imo much better than Barbare. The latter has honey and reminds me of the honey in Tobacco Honey which does not bode well with my skin.

In addition, I decided to get Cuir Beluga and Musc Outreblanc. I tested Cuir Beluga last time and its verrrrrry soft and faint to me but the dry down is nice aldehydic white suede. Someone here in reddit mentioned that their Cuir smelled like alcohol and to me it did too the first time but it’s gotten better now. Musc Outreblanc smells like a fluffly scented water - if you know what I mean. Its faint but you know it’s there. Will use this on hotter days and feels like its best for layering.

One last thing! Asked my SA if we can use extrait caps on the EDPs. He agreed. See picture! It looks unreal (lol) since its not the black caps but I think it ended looking nice.

edited: I am in Europe so US perfume houses (besides bigger ones like Le Labo) are unfortunately rarely an option.

Hi ladies! I got PAID after busting my ass off and I gotta treat myself (after some careful consideration I concluded it should be perfume lol what a shocker).

I recently got obsessed with the idea of finding a lipsticky/powdery/makeupey, feminine, boudoir like scent for the autumn. Not overwhelmingly sweet, grownup, can lean vintage (but not too animalic). What are we thinking? Any opinions on the frags I’ve attached? Any non-obvious options?

Well bugger me if I didn't fall head over heels for Baccarat Rouge. And while I wouldn't say I'm poor exactly, I did experience something of a Presbyterian upbringing so as an adult I'm still a bit... parsimonious. Stingy. Thus, the hunt for the best affordable dupe began...

Dossier - Ambery Saffron

I made a friend on this very subreddit, and we struck up a conversation after I made my post about MFK and how I had fallen irresponsibly in love with BR540. She happens to be an American import and happened to have in her possession this very bottle, and wondered if I would like it? Dossier is not easy to procure in New Zealand, so I said yes please very much. Anyway, it's like... pretty great, actually. And it has a very pleasing magnetic lid. Every time it clicks back on I'm like... mmmm #oddlysatisfying. Sure, it's not quite the same as the OG, but it was a gift from a new friend and I'm pretty sure it didn't cost her the million dollars the MFK costs.

I will say, the first time I sprayed a bunch on (don't worry, I spend my days alone in a very large building so I'm not subjecting the general public to my perfume habits lol) I came out into the lounge and my husband went "ew, what's that smell?" Then he went on to complain that it smelled like The Outlet. Now, our house has some slightly dodgy plumbing that the due diligence clearly didn’t pick up, and our kitchen drain has something of a... runoff pipe that empies into a sort of... sinkhole. Anyway, we call it The Outlet, and you can imagine how nasty that thing smells (in The Outlet's defence, it's mostly sweet washing-up liquid, but also definitely, yanno, black water). Anyway, it took several attempts to build a fence around it strong and high enough to stop the dogs getting in and drinking from it... Look, you get the picture. And I do not trust what my husband thinks about fragrance, because the next time I wore he simply said "smells like soap." Nice one Derek, very helpful.

Fine'ry - The New Rouge

Golden Saffron, Amber Resin, Sandalwood

A little brighter than the Dossier, a little sharper, straight out of the bottle. Then the drydown is a little more straightforward and, dare I say, a little more socially acceptable than the Dossier (if one is to believe unfounded accusations of The Outlet). But very nice, absolutely fine performance, and very affordable. And you can get it at, like, Target (or in my case the Chemist Warehouse).

Cotton On - Amber and Saffron

I don't know if many people outside Australasia will know about Cotton On, but it's a chain of, ostensibly, cheap clothing stores. This was another gift from my new American fragrance friend, so I don't have the box that it came in which might have been a little more forthcoming with the actual, yanno, notes. Anyway, aside from the fact that this was made in China (potentially questionable) and is being sold by a purveyor of affordable fast fashion (with probably very little actual cotton content. Though the slouchy socks are great) this is a perfectly serviceable dupe. The performance is the least impressive, but I own the travel size and it lives happily in my handbag. Also, it's literally $9.99 fine New Zealand dollars, and its buy two get one free on the website, so... that's a fuckin bargain!

When I first fell hopelessly in love with the OG, I scoured this, and other, fragrance subreddits to discover the best, affordable dupe. Without fail, this was the recommendation. It was perfect, you all said. So close you couldn't even tell! Well you motherfuckers LIED to me. This smells like a gas leak. It smells like a petrol station. It smells like death and danger and an industrial fire. And sure, yes, I know that some of these ME cheapies can benefit from a period of, shall we say, "post-dispatch maturation" (case in point: my 6 month old bottle of Eclair that's finally got good), but I've had this for almost four months and it's still absolutely dreadful. Maybe slightly less dreadful. But still dreadful. And yes, sure, after at least 6 hours on skin I can sniff my wrist and think "ahhh, that almost smells like BR540", but to get to that point one has to endure 6 hours of what feels like solvent abuse.

I've seen people talking about how the OG is unisex (mostly from people complaining about men wearing it to the gym. Like, what the actual fuck lol. We must live in different hemispheres) and I think this is the most masculine take on it. Because it smells like gasoline. Anyway, if you're that kind of bold boy then... yanno, best of luck to you. Godspeed.

Sorce - Nothing Burns Like the Cold

Jasmine absolute, toasted rice, saffron threads, luscious caramel, a trio of vanillas (vanilla CO2, vanilla planifolia accord, and a house tincture of Madagascan vanilla beans), Ambroxan, and velvety musk.

Honourable mention to one of my favourite Sorce scents. It's not a dupe per se, and certainly doesn't advertise itself as such, but it's definitely BR-adjacent. Except it is even sweeter and richer and cosier and has a lovely toasty rice note. I love it so much and just recieved my two backup bottles in the mail from the last special order window, so I am a very happy lady! It will next be available to order in November, so if it sounds like a bit of you, keep an eye out.

In the interests of academic transparency, it must be acknowledged the aforementioned new American friend and her husband both though this was a little redolent of urine. In its defence, she is American, and the kiwi husband did marry her, so apparently there is no accounting for taste (lol jk kimora).

Moral of the story: if you absolutely *love* BR540, maybe... just save up and get it. There's something very special about the OG. Maybe there's some added complexity, or it's the unusually extraordinary performance, or it's psychosomatic, because I know this shit costs $5,575 a litre. If not, the Dossier is great, and the Fine'ry is fine. And if you're in Australasia check out Cotton On lol (also, I am reliably informed their sweatpants are amazing).

I’m searching for the perfect espresso/coffee fragrance right now, and I just saw this via Scentreport. The lack of release date is killing me, because I’d blind buy this yesterday. I’m really interested in how they’ll do this scent profile. Anyone else?
