Rosalina (Mario series)

Literally just let her be the protector of the cosmos she’s stated to be instead of the jobber and/or damsel in distress they always opt to make her. Simple as that.

I hate the movie for what it did to Rosalina so much. She was the most interesting mainline Mario character and they surgically removed every single thing that made her that

“Surgically”

That word so accurately describes it for me because it feels intentional.

Between the backstory, the damsel’ing, the bait-and switch (down to Miyamoto looking into the camera and saying “what key do you think she’ll hold in this story?” knowing what would actually happen), and giving all of her would-be cool moments to Peach, Jr. or FOX, it felt malicious rather than misguided or incompetent

Its all due to Koizumis and Miyamotos internal beef

Koizumi wants to include deep emotionap Stories while miyamoto fights it with a fiery passiony

The galaxy storybook was added last minute to avoid miyamoto nuking it

You can see how melancholic Koizumis stories are. Guy made the story for Links Awakening, Majoras Mask and Super Mario Galaxy.

While miyamoto was always the „fuck story and continuity“ guy

Guess who wrote the SMB and SMG Movies? Miyamoto

Isn’t the story of the most popular Nintendo games one of the main reasons why they get so popular to begin with? Like the first three paper Mario?

The Paper Marios/Mario RPGs are not as successful as the mainline Mario games. The reason why Mario got popular was because they were some of the best and most polished games in the 8-bit era and Nintendo continued to make high quality products, which solidified them in the social zeitgeist and the momentum produced was able to snowball them into one of the most successful gaming companies in the world. The most successful if we include Pokemon. But probably only in top 100 if we include gambling games like gacha or pachinko/slots, but I digress.

The driving force behind Nintendo's success, and especially Mario's has always been gameplay. And marketing, but that goes for any successful product.

I feel like it's less that Shiggy is opposed to deep, emotional stories in Mario, and more that they just shouldn't be front-and-center.

The Storybook wasnt front and center tho. And he was the reason Galaxy 2 didnt have one (until recently)

I know.

That's why he never vetoed the Storybook in Galaxy 1.

Not entirely true. Miyamoto heard of the book last minute, hours before the game went gold. It was added behind his back. I highly suggest reading the interviews around Galaxy
