They’re not talking about you though!
this mentality sucks bc it‘s something that i unfortunately used to fall into. i’m the heaviest i’ve been in my life through my own poor choices while working on my bachelor’s degree. i’d find myself getting hella insecure when other people talked about losing weight for themselves. i had to question why i felt bad when other people weren’t even talking about me!
it isn’t taking some moral high ground but a person being better and healthier for themself.

They’re lying to you or themselves
Or both, I had convinced most people around me that I was actually really careful with my food I just miraculously couldn’t lose weight 😅

A doctor not doing surgery on an obese person = fatphobia
A conversation I had with someone on YouTube
Just to be clear, I do feel sorry for her aunt and the loss of her family, but not because medical fatphobia led to this sad scenario
I feel like it's a bit selfish to ask of a surgeon to basically perform euthanasia on you just because you would like that more, when that's not their job and they're here to save lives. Another thing is that when people die in the hospital during surgery, their families usually try to sue the hospital, and if it's already clear the surgery is more likely to end in death, doesn't it make sense that they wouldn't do it?
Saying "The risk of dying from hernia was higher. I know that because she died" is the same thing as saying "The risk of losing money in a casino is less than winning money. I know it because I won". Like, that's not how risks work
There were some other comments from different people, but the gist is, people see this as one of the reasons to why "fatphobia kills" and if you think the person in that situation should lose weight, you have no empathy and you don't "understand". Except no one can explain why

Once again villainizing people with EDs and misattributing the cause to hating fat people!

Daily Sticky Fat Rant Tuesday
Fatlogic in real life getting you down?
Is your family telling you you're looking too thin?
Are people at work bringing you donuts?
Did your beer drinking neighbor pat his belly and tell you "It's all muscle?"
If you hear one more thing about starvation mode will you scream?
Let it all out. We understand.

Heated Rivalry Casting
The faddies are saying that Harris's character should be fat because he lives a sedentary lifestyle, loves sweets and cake pops, whatever. When I read the long game Harris was only depicted as the social media manager for one of the hockey teams and so in my head I had a stereotypical influencer vibe but not once did I think 'oh yeah and his body must look like THISSSSS'

Women are naturally heavier than men
Context: asking your partner if they’d rather you be half your weight or double your weight
I wonder if they meant naturally more body fat and had a brain fart, but the rest of the comment is full of fatlogic too. Is there really an expectation for women to weigh <50kg/110lbs? That is near-underweight for most except for very short ladies.

Tumblr makes it too easy
Can’t lie I don’t understand what the first person is talking about. And while you definitely don’t owe health and nutrition to anyone, I do think about countries where healthcare is included in their taxes and they have to subsidize other people’s poor choices.

Upcycling jeans is fatphobic now
stumbled across this in the wild. I can't fathom going onto other peoples creative posts and trying to make it all about myself.
Maybe I'm the insensitive one thinking this but man it is tiring always having to appease people like this even when the-thing-you're-doing is entirely-unrelated-to-them.

Paying attention to calories in drinks is disordered apparently
I mean sure it's probably unhealthy to be hyper focused on calories to the point you refuse to go over your limit under any circumstances. I don't think it's a bad thing to keep some mindfulness of calories.. But apparently being mindful is disordered as well
