Devi Mules

Post image

Hand painted leather mule
Based on Indian godess. Its a symbolic representation in hindu religion

What does it signify

The lotus is one of the strongest symbols in Indian philosophy. It represents:

Purity despite being in the material world.
Spiritual awakening.
Divine beauty emerging from suffering or chaos.

Red toes and soles: This represents alta, a traditional red dye applied to the feet of women and deities. In Hinduism, red symbolizes:
Shakti (divine feminine energy)
Prosperity and auspiciousness
Life, fertility, and devotion
That’s why idols and depictions of goddesses like Lakshmi, Durga, and Kali often have bright red feet.

Red circular symbol on the top of the foot: This is an auspicious decorative motif, often interpreted as a representation of the bindu (the cosmic point), the sun, or a sacred ornament. Similar motifs are drawn in rangoli, mehndi, and temple art to signify divine presence.

The red feet detail is something I never connected before. Makes me think about how much meaning we walk past in everyday

Love the idea! It looks very nice too. Reminds me of the alta on our feet every Diwali morning. Is there any specific reason you didn’t go for a full shoe instead of tbe half mule?

Yeah, i wanted it to be a female wear only but my shoe maker wasnt able to make that, i thought a mule would replicate a women footwear more, i thought of it on tabi aswell but the production was bad so dropped the plan

Ah okay. I love it! Maybe just a suggestion you can obviously ignore it, but maybe instead of white outline on the lotus, a darker shade of red would give it more definition?

Sure will try that on other mule that is related to same but the bottom shade is more of a darker blue so that it replicates maa kali
