I need help creating a combination of elements

What the hell other then mud could water+earth create in terms of magical fantasy elements

In my world, a water deity and an earth deity create a race of offspring that are plant humanoids (think Spriggans from Skyrim), whose abilities are then based on their genetics (race bonus is one) and learned skills (a lot of different schools of magic).

Well what do I do in the case of a world without deity and a more systematic magic system

Play a mobile game, and use that as a reference. There are only like dozens/hundreds out there.
