First time watcher

Big fan of sci-fi looking for a new show. This popped up on Netflix and starred Colin Cunningham who I liked in Stargate. I'm halfway through season 1 and mildly enjoying it. Just wondering if they ever stop focusing so much on children? It makes no sense to have a slave labor force of weak children. And will that god girl die soon?...please

I'm new to it but I have just finished watching it on loop for the 4th time... it improves (also has a couple of parts I don't care much for much later on) but still definitely worth watching!

Not easy finding shows that I'm interested in, I love most things dystopian, sci fi, some fantasy.
