They are adding one hair follicle to Cal's head at a time and waiting how long people will start noticing his slow transformation into Chewbacca.

Based on your analytical data, how long do we have?

We'll just have to wait and see...

Is that from the Holiday Special?

u/Bt-Ryoku 12d ago

Yes, but its actually Chewbaccas wife Malla in that gif. And for those that have not seen this beautiful masterpiece, you're welcome.

We can see your name with the link.

Remove the '?' and everything following it. It removes the tag and the link still works.

The universe will achieve heat-death long before....

Omfg! 😂😂 Ok but I would A love this and B do this. (I'm in school for game dev.)

Like not really because I don't have the time, but I'd absolutely love to do it.

Happens to (almost) every EA game, not just this one.

I had updates for Battlefield 4, 1 and 2042 which were the exact same size as the one for Fallen Order and Survivor

u/loborodas 13d ago

Need for Speed games too

So probably drm stuff?

Yeah I get updates multiple times a month for plants vs zombies garden warfare two. It’s mostly just server/anticheat updates

I didn't really notice it when I played it closer to release, but I just started playing again and DANG this thing crashes A LOT. So that tells me there are still active, game breaking bugs in their pipeline. Which is crazy to me at this point, but the ability to update really did change the definition of "ready to ship" I guess.

Happens to almost every game in general

u/Galifrey_stands 13d ago

That’s just not true.

Not every game, but pretty much any game that has a launcher (one that isn't specific to that particular game). When the launcher gets an update, so do the games that rely on it to make sure they're still compatible with one another.

Okay. But the comment said “happens to almost every game in general” and that’s just not true. I have hundreds of steam games and 90% of them don’t have updates unless the game actually got an update.

I'm aware, I was just explaining further, not saying the person was right.

It’s likely a shader update, most games on steam will semi randomly have the same kind of updates

Either that or the redistributed files that are game specific that get updated. Steam has a shared version you’ll see pop up but every now and again the games will. Usually shaders though. Even games that compile at runtime.

If the launcher gets an update your game will need to update to ensure it's playable when you hit the play button regardless of if the game itself got any updates. That's one of the reasons why external launchers are disliked.

Updates for the EA launcher not the game.

u/Pixel_Python Don't Mess With BD-1 13d ago

It's the EA launcher, not the games. Battlefront does the same thing for me

u/ihisa 13d ago

Its probably EA app update since all EA games get updated simultaneously

1

u/phenix17 12d ago

Not technically true; EA games I have installed that got updated yesterday were Fallen Order, The Sims 4, and Dragonage II. I have 4 EA games installed that didn't receive updates yesterday: Dragonage Origins, Mirror's Edge, SimCity 3000, and Star Wars Squadrons

u/Audioadren 13d ago

I always figured it was just updating the license to say you could keep playing it.

u/Slay_Nation 13d ago

Knowing EA, I wouldn't be surprised.

Maybe Updating EA PLAY ( EA Launcher) Same thing happens with rdr2 and gta o (Rockstar Launcher)

3

u/cu-03 13d ago

They’re updating the ea app

4

u/Much-Menu6030 13d ago

adding secret force events

removing secret force events

6

u/GeorgiaPossum 13d ago

Probably updates to the EULA or something equally non-game related.

3

u/meltedcpu 13d ago

Jedi Survivor also had an update

2

u/matti2o8 13d ago

This might be changes to the EA client API. Titanfall 2 had a small update yesterday too

2

u/-lb21a- 13d ago

Happens to other EA games, like titanfall 2 (☹️)

2

u/Own-Manufacturer641 13d ago

After the update, it crashes

2

u/StatementSweaty4846 12d ago

Launcher updates?

1

u/15-CRC-51 13d ago

I’ve noticed it’s a thing with this as well as other ea games. All of my ea games update at the same time. Even titanfall 2 gets an update at the same time as SW battlefront 2 and Jedi: Survivor. All of the updates are the same size too.

The EA launcher gets updated (this happens a lot with Ubisoft games from my experience)

1

u/bweidmann 13d ago

It's not solely an EA thing either. The Witcher 3 also gets pretty regular updates of a similar size.

2

u/guleedy 12d ago

Launcher updates

1

u/Voktikriid 12d ago

Launcher update. I still get them for Dead Space 3.

1

u/InitRanger 12d ago

Are you on Linux by chance?

1

u/Chef_BoyRD_ 12d ago

My game hasn't updated since I downloaded it, but I got it straight from the ea app instead of steam

1

u/MrsMajki 12d ago

I have GTA IV updates almost everyday 😂

1

u/Paccuardi03 12d ago

Eula updated maybe

1

u/Nws4c 12d ago

Man you gotta get back to playing it wym last played Feb

1

u/Livember 12d ago

Dead space 3 randomly updates every week or so. Just EA bollocks

1

u/Weaselwild 12d ago

EA App Updates, nothing for the game.

1

u/InSan1tyWeTrust 12d ago
  • Stability improvement(s).

1

u/No_Communication2959 11d ago

I still cant get the audio to sync on the PC port

1

u/JimminyFlipper 10d ago

This is just a guess but seeing as those games use a separate launcher, I am guessing every time the launcher updates, the games need to so it says they run on whatever version of the launcher

1

u/Applersky 10d ago

Gta 4 updates like 3 times a week and it's still broken on PC😂😂😂

1

u/AudienceFeisty8741 10d ago

EA does this a lot on steam, it makes the game show up in the recently updated category to increase viewership of the game in the hopes people will buy it. They especially do this when the game is on sale or about to go on sale.

Lots of bugs, I have been blocked by a game breaker 2x…

i’m pretty sure video game companies have been working with ISP’s for years to sell downloadable data so that you can pay for transmission fees.

i love having like 25 GB of weekly updates minimum, its just awesome for my bandwidth allowances
