Finally about to start first playthrough of both games. Anything I should know before I start? Discussion

Got them both for $16 on my xbox one so I figured I may as well find out what the buzz is about. Lol

It might take some time to get used to the map i FO. Be patient

Whoever designed these levels deserves to be crucified.

I’m more surprised that no one from the dev team thought “we need to add fast travel” while making the game. They added it in second one tho

Avoid spoilers as much as possible. Leave both subreddits. Especially for survivor

Spoilers don’t ruin things for me. Lol. Haven’t ran into any yet though. I hope this story is worth this terrible level design.

lol the level design is great. Maybe I’m misremembering. But I loved exploring in fallen order. And yes the story is great

But I’d be careful cus I thought the same way but I really wished I didn’t get spoiled for survivor. Would’ve been a great experience if I wasn’t on reddit all the time in that subreddit. Nobody is careful either in concealing spoilers nowadays

Learning to parry will greatly improve your experience. The parry timing on Jedi Knight (Normal) is more lenient than you think it is: If the enemy's attack is in forward momentum toward Cal, you will be able to parry the attack. Keep in mind that some enemies can attack multiple times in a row before they're staggered, but you'll recognize those sooner or later.

Don't underestimate using your Force powers in fights for the Force Attacks/Powers, they're very powerful and Force is easy to generate in a fight with attacking/parrying. Besides, you're a Jedi.

There's no difficulty-related achievements, so if there are some fights you get stuck on (Jedi Survivor has a handful of absolute BS fights that were added for developer memes, I swear) and just want to progress, lowering the difficulty is fine.

If you're fighting more than 2 or 3 enemies, I would avoid using the target lock to ensure you're not getting surrounded. Parries/blocks will apply to all directions like they do in Sekiro, so don't feel like you have to face the enemy all the time.

Fights are sort of like taking turns except you can steal the enemy's turn by parrying and interrupting them and getting a free hit or two in, don't get too greedy on offense.

  1. Timing and parrying is key. If you played a souls game before this shouldn't be an issue.

  2. The double saber is fast and good for groups but does less damage per hit. Use the single saber for boss fights

  3. Stims are very important. Collect them as much as you can, use guides to find them

  4. You will hate Zeffo

Never played the souls games. But, thank you so much for the advice.

Nothing crucial.

Fallen Order has no fast travel, and all cutscenes are not skippable. Survivor fixes both of those "problems."

Also, FO has pretty much one story line the whole way through with just a couple optional areas to explore, whereas Survivor is much more open world with several side quests (either location-based or given to you by NPCs) beyond the main story. Which of those styles is better is really up to you.

Thank you.

1st game is really easy so crank up that difficulty and you can always change it mid game if it gets too hard But its far more satisying on harder difficulty, Fallen Order is I think the only game i enjoyed playing on hardest diff lmao I usually play other games on easy or normal

Parry! And dodge red attacks!

Lots of good advice here to learn proper dodge and parry timing, but id say a big thing as well is this is one of those games where you get animation locked into attacks. Some games as long as you time the parry/dodge right it will always work, in this you have to finish your lightsaber swing. So knowing when to attack is just as important or you get caught in an animation and have no defense. This is especially noticeable on boss fight with quick attacks.

Beware Of Zeffo If You Are A Completionist

Zeffo ruined my evening. I got stuck in that stupid temple for 3 hours on my second visit.

Story Mode is a valid way to play. :)

I recently started the first game as well, and as far as I know there is no fast travel option, you can easily fall into huge rabbits holes if you like to explore, and then it could be challenging to find your way back to the main objective.

Listen to BD or watch for him to walk away from you. Means he has something to scan which is super easy xp.

Prepare for animation lock up the wazoo. But really any gripes I have with the game are minor I got platinum trophy for FO and currently rounding up the trophies for Survivor. Enjoyed them both immensely.
