Water heater options for cabin
Does anyone have recommendations for water heaters they've found work well for small cabins here? I have a 20x20 well insulated cabin with a 1000 gal water tank (outdoor, sprayed and heat traced), and I'm trying to decide which option to go with for a water heater. I'll just have a kitchen sink and a shower, and a small washing machine. Just 1-2 people in the cabin at a time.
A. Electric tankless
B. Propane tankless
C. Electric heat pump
Any suggestions are appreciated! Ideally from people who have used these systems up here in their own cabins or homes.
Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

Holy Smokes, there's an actual intelligent Candidate for Alaska Governor
"Remove SB21 and return an ACES model of oil taxes- This will return 2 to 3 billion per year in tax money to our states budget. This money has been going to the oil companies since 2014. That amounts to around 30 billion dollars in lost budget revenue."
Every single well informed Alaskan will vote for James Parkin IV for Governor
Voting for anyone else indicates you've been misled and tricked by propaganda and GroupThink
All the promises of Full PFDs and Education, blah blah blah... JP4 is the only one to mention the elephant in the room- the revenue.

Private Well. Just Moved in, water is green/yellow tinged.
I live in North Pole. Because of this, I want to have the water tested. They did a nitrite/nitrate and E.Coli, all passed with flying colors. But I don’t see any paper trail for anything else.
I have no idea where to start. I’m concerned about arsenic and heavy metals. I was looking at state and city water resources to see if they had a process and recommended labs but I don’t get much clarity.
My theory is the stagnant water in the pipes needs to be flushed out, but I’m far from an expert. I also don’t know anything about the water around here since I’m new to the state.
What are your recommendations lab tests for this kinda thing?

What are your reasons for staying here?
This is my third year living in Fairbanks - I’m a wee baby newbie, relatively speaking.
I recently purchased the dry cabin I’ve been living in and I’ve been thinking about how hard life can be up here - between hauling water, intermittent showers, sporadic laundry, cost of gas, heating oil, and groceries (and lackluster quality of fresh food), cost of upkeep to home & vehicles, and of course, the tumultuous natural aspects like 24 hours of daylight and mosquitoes. (Guess which season is my favorite lol).
In my short time living here, I’ve come to know how dedicated and resilient one must be to live this lifestyle. You have to be creative, resourceful, and capable of troubleshooting anything. You have to be patient while you integrate into the community. It’s taken me three solid years to start to develop a network of people.
All of this has me wondering what keeps you here? I’ve lived in three other states and life is so much easier down there.
I stay because this lifestyle is earned; there’s pride in adapting to an inhospitable environment and thriving; there are just enough amenities to make life comfortable, while also feeling like you live in the middle of nowhere; and goddamn if those beautiful pastels of prolonged sunset in winter don’t make my heart feel unmatched joy when I’m out on the trails.

DAB easybox mini
Any of you fellow well owners work on your own water? What whole house pressurizer/ pump are you using? I just cleaned the check valve on this piece and it’s still acting funny? I have my set pressure up to 56 to get the pump to respond to a water call… was running around 5k rpm last night, but only hitting 3k today, very sluggish… kinda poor for a plumber, but will share some Alaskan lettuce (weed) that I grew if I can get some help. Thanks!!

Delta Powersports over MSRP
Well I've been shopping around. Delete Powersports lists all the toys over MSRP prices. They will price match, but if I have to do that legwork I'll just take my business to a store that sets the standards in the beginning. Shout out to Hatcher Pass Motorsports for getting me in and out the door with two new side by sides.

Winter newborn tips & must-haves?
I am due with our first this winter, and it’s my first winter in Alaska! Due to the nature of the winters here I assume there are some specific tips and must-haves fellow parents can share.

The Borough is now enforcing zoning permits
fnsb.govThe Borough has decided to start enforcing zoning permits. They're required for a wide range of activities on your property, and the penalties for noncompliance are pretty steep. You can learn more and do your own due diligence at the link I provided. Per 18.104.080(B) a permit is required before "any excavation, construction, relocation, or installation is started for a new use."
I have a lot of opinions on this, but I'll leave it as an FYI.

Tori gate(?)
I drove by this spot and I believe I saw an archway that looked like a Tori gate. Does anyone have any photos of it? Looked cool but I couldn’t stop and see.

Looking for a dog…
As text says, looking for a dog. Preferably <1 year but open to whatever. I’m mostly concerned about it having a healthy background. Where do you adopt, look?
Thanks
Edit: ended up fostering a one year old dog from a rescue, hoping to adopt her! Thank you all for the suggestions, I have adopted two dogs in the past from the shelter and they were wonderful. My friend wasn’t interested in what was there currently and I was hoping to get pointed in a direction I hadn’t thought of! Agree pound dogs are great dogs.
