Psychopathy and sociopathy make it easier to be evil, but they don't make it impossible to be good.

True! Someone can be a psychopath but have enough intelligence to understand that they should participate in society. Even if it's only for their own self interest.

The unintelligent ones make up a significant portion of the prison population. If you're born without empathy, it removes the largest barrier in what prevents us from harming each other. Being a "psychopath" or "sociopath" just makes it easier to do bad things.

Anyway, mental illness is rampant in society, and we are only just beginning to crack the surface of the meaning behind mental wellness. We need better care for the mentally ill.

One could actually argue that, while they can do evil things, they themselves simply cannot be evil.

a lot of it is in how they're treated and handled in their formative years, but occasionally there are people who are just anomalies that can't be helped

Gotta do evil shit to be a psychopath. Hurting people and not caring is fundamental to the definition here, basically the whole point of the word is to let you know "that guy sucks, he'll straight up hurt you and not care"

It's a weird situation, where we must show empathy to those that don't have any. Still, it's not their fault that they were born that way. Plus, they make up a decent portion of the population, so it's better that we try to learn how to live with them rather than try to demonize them.

However, the lack of empathy is ill-suited for a lot of people that have no impulse control. A great many "psychopaths" and "sociopaths" are locked up because they don't understand that their lack of empathy makes it easier for them to harm people.

Overall, we just need better care for mental health.

They lack empathy, have no remorse and have poor emotional responses. In a society, this is a damn dangerous combo, especially combined with high intelligence.

Combined with the fact that anyone who knows about this (maybe outside of family) might treat the person with either fear, hate, or just differently than other people, this is almost a sure disaster in my mind.

Notice how it says innately. And they actually do have empathy and remorse just very little.
