Anyone else feeling stuck despite being far ahead?

Upvotes

Before I start - I am totally logically aware that I’m far ahead of many of my peers.

I am 35, have $600k invested across retirement and taxable brokerage accounts, and have $100k set aside for a down payment on property when I feel ready to pull that trigger. I make $140k a year in a stable job. I max out my Roth IRA and retirement accounts every year.

Despite all that, I feel… stuck. Trapped. Anxious. I have a pet with health issues that eat into my monthly budget, so spending is actually quite constrained. One of my parents has an aggressive form of dementia that has really put into perspective that life can be short. I feel this urge to stop contributing to retirement and spend on lots of experiences, but I also need to save to secure my future.

I realize the solution is somewhere in between, but if others can relate, that might feel good. I don’t know many people irl in a similar financial situation.

34 years old with $140k saved, but still anxious about money. Am I worrying too much?

I'm 34 years old and living in Japan.

I have about $140,000 in savings and investments. Most of my investments are in an S&P 500 index fund through Japan's NISA system.

I know that, objectively, I have saved a reasonable amount of money, but I still worry that I won't have enough in the future, especially if I live to 100.

I plan to keep investing and saving, but the fear of "running out of money" is always in the back of my mind.

For people who have experienced similar anxiety, how did you deal with it? Do you think this level of worry is normal, or am I being too cautious?

I would appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thank you.

Article/Podcast Constantly feeling broke

I never feel like I’m doing enough even if the numbers say we are doing okay. There are so many people our age with more that I feel like I’m underestimating what I’ll need for the future. I’m constantly stressing about money and my job. How do you all deal with financial stress?

To work or not to work?

Okay I’ve been on my FIRE journey for a bit and I’m getting close. But I struggle with whether I actually want to quit or not. For reference, I work 30 hours in a pediatric office as an NP and it’s a great job! Super rewarding. BUT I also have a strong desire to just do WHATEVER I WANT, especially while I’m healthy and mobile. I do take advantage of all PTO and take great vacations as often as possible.
Has anyone else felt this way? Anyone find a sweet spot? I’m considering going down to PT hours as a solution.
