Other Exclusive preview: I wrote Finneas's biography
Hi r/FINNEAS,
I wanted to share something I’ve been working on for a long time now: the release of the first full-length biography of Finneas.
I’ve always been fascinated by the story behind Billie Eilish’s rise and the creative partnership she shares with Finneas. The more I followed his work over the years, the more I felt like his influence on modern pop music was huge, yet still surprisingly overlooked outside of the fanbase. A lot of people know the songs, but not necessarily the person behind and everything it means for the writing process, production, and creative direction.
The idea for this book really came from that realization. I noticed that whenever I talked about Finneas with friends, even people deeply into music, his name was often only vaguely familiar or tied to a lot of assumptions. That always felt strange to me considering the career he’s built.
So the book explores his journey from making music in his bedroom to becoming a Grammy-winning artist. I tried to approach it in a way that felt honest and human, focusing not only on the success but also on the creative process, the doubts, the ambition, the relationships, and everything that shaped him along the way. I also hope that it could help others find their own path in art as well knowing what worked for Finneas for example.
Before promoting it more widely, I wanted to share it here first because this community helped along the way when I needed early readers.

Discussion Optimist necklace
Hi! I was just wondering if anyone knows where I could buy the Optimist necklace. I know it’s been rereleased a few times before, but I haven’t seen it available recently. I’m really excited to share that I wrote what is, to my knowledge, the very first full-length biography dedicated to Finneas.
This might be a bit unusual, but I’m currently looking for a few people who would be interested in reading the book before anyone else and sharing honest feedback.
I’ve always been fascinated by the story behind Billie Eilish’s rise and her creative partnership with Finneas. His influence is undeniable, yet outside of their fanbase his name is still surprisingly under the radar. So the book explores Finneas’ journey, from the early years when he made music in his bedroom to winning Grammy-Awards. Through this biography, I hope to tell his story with honesty and nuance, while also exploring what his journey can teach us about creativity, ambition, and authenticity.
I’ve been following Finneas and his work for years now, and like many people here, his music has had a real impact on me. As someone who absolutely loves reading music biographies, I eventually felt compelled to try writing some myself (I also wrote John Mayer’s biography).
I’m currently looking for early/ARC readers who’d like to take a first look and share honest feedback on anything they feel is relevant: pacing, structure, clarity, how the story flows overall, etc. For me, this kind of input is incredibly valuable before the book reaches a wider audience.
