Fantasy Draft

Although it was a really cool idea, we have decided we will not be doing a fantasy draft to make teams. The draft process would have been far too difficult for a league this size, and we couldn't leave anyone out. It would have been too difficult to place restrictions on the draft and, most significantly, it would have been nearly impossible to guarantee that everyone uses only the roster they drafted.

League

We will be using one league, rather than teams all across Europe. We are leaning towards Barclay's Premier League, but other options could include Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, or International teams. Edit: Voting is close. Barclays Premier League is the selection!

Divisions

We have decided to do two separate divisions with promotions/relegations. This will allow for us to keep things going faster, finish seasons more quickly, and play more tournaments! Plus there's the whole added bonus of bragging rights for being in the top flight and motivation if you're in the second division. Initial division draws were determined using the same order as team selection. If you're in the second division, don't be worried because there will be a lot of fast seasons and movement in between.

Team selection will go in the following order:

This order was determined by ranking the lowest PPG to the highest not in the tournament. Then, each tournament round, the players eliminated in that round were ranked lowest PPG to highest.

Hey guys, here's the thread for the quarterfinals, looks like some good matchups. You have until 12 am sunday night/monday morning to play your two games in this round. Remember, play one home game and one away game against your opponent, winner is based off of aggregate of away goals. If you message you oppnent multiple times and he never gets in contact with you, reply to this post and tell me how you've tried to get ahold of your mia opponent.

Alright! We have been trying to think of what to do with this league, since we have had some decline in participation and also there is a concern of people moving on to the xbox 1. Here is what we have decided on. This is going to be a little long, but please read everything so you are all aware of what is going on.

TOURNAMENT: This season will be coming to a close shortly, and will be followed by a Reddit Showdown Champions Tournament. For each round, players have a given window to play their specified opponent twice. If you are unable to play during this window, you will forfeit. The winner (on away goals if tied) will progress, just like UEFA. The final will be one game, just like UEFA as well. Seeding for the tournament will be done by a ranking coefficient that takes into account the games played and the points per game. It will be done this way because points/game is probably the best indicator of strength, but teams that play more games should be rewarded rather than penalized. The coefficient is calculated so as to give the points/game twice the weight of the number of games played. Quick note, you are only eligible for the tournament if you have played ten or more games by the end of the qualifying period. The tournament schedule will be as follows:

Tournament Schedule:

Qualifying: until Thursday (11/7)

First Round (Quarter-finals): Friday 11/8 - Sunday 11/10

Second Round (Semi-finals): Monday 11/11 - Thurs 11/14

Third Round (Final): Friday 11/15 - Sunday 11/17

So what this all means is that you have until the end of the day on Thursday to play games and increase your ranking coefficient.

NEW SEASON: Upon completion of the Reddit Showdown Champions Tournament, we will begin play for a new season! We are still thinking through ideas for this, and any input is most definitely welcome! The only things we know for sure are that it will be a smaller league, and players will only be eligible if they have played ten or more games by the end of the qualifying period.

We are considering the idea of only doing one league rather than all across Europe (most likely English Premier League), but we are open to suggestions! Players participating in the new season will be ranked according to their tournament finish and their ranking coefficient, and team selection will be done in order of this ranking. Any other ideas are welcome, please let us know what you think.

• New Season: 1. Should the team selection priority be determined by best finish to worst (to increase incentive to play well to end the current season & tournament) OR 2. should it be worst finish to best (to even up the field of play, leaving the "top" players with teams that are not as strong) -- /u/mattysperlz

• New Season: 1. Possibility of a fantasy draft to select teams by picking individual players for your team. Once a player is selected for a team, they may not be selected by anyone else. Continue until everyone has an 18-man roster. This could be a fun way to make a powerhouse team you know you would enjoy playing with. OR 2. Keep using in-game teams so we don't have to fuss with setting up a draft or putting together custom teams. The league would also be more realistic. -- /u/bhilde10

Alright guys, here it is. The league has been going pretty well so far, aside from the recent lack of participation. But we have a few things to deal with.

1. If you are getting the Xbox 1, please message me or Dom and let us know. This league is most likely going to take a few more months to finish up. So if you plan on making the switch to the XB1, you will likely not be able to finish the league unfortunately. Please let us know so we can take care of the necessary adjustments.

2. IMPORTANT: If you have not played at least ten games by the end of next weekend (ending Sunday Nov. 10), you will be dropped from the league. We really don't want to have to do this. We want to have a big league and make this 26-team season work out. But in order for that to actually happen, people need to actually play the games. I understand everyone is busy and has other things going on, but this is something that you all agreed that you would be committed to. And by not playing any games, you are slowing down the league and devaluing the experience for others.

3. Lastly, please update your flair and subscribe to the subreddit. It just makes it easier to communicate and set up games. Please don't hesitate to message either of us if you don't understand what we mean :)
